I'm looking to buy a 2010 Wrangler from the military auto sales and have it delivered in the states when my over seas assignment is complete. The dealer is tying to sell me Ziebart (rust protection/fabric protection) as part of the package for an extra $469. Is this worth it?

You could probably get it done for less somewhere local. I have.

BTW, before you buy any at all, see if you even need it. Will you be driving in a Salty/Wet/Humid Climate? If so, then get it done. If not, you don't really need it. I'm in Central Texas, and no one around here does undercoating, because we don't need it in this area. None of the vehicles that are sold on the Dealer Lots, have any Rust Proofing underneath either. We're pretty much a Dry Climate, and our rigs don't rust out like other areas.

Nope don't get it. For the fabric scotch guard works just fine. Vehicles nowadays seem to be a little better resisting major rust problems.

My brother bought a truck that had the ziebart thing done to it. Rusted out quicker than my jeep.

WHAT??? 2010 wrangler needs ziebart??? ABSOLUTELY NOT! no way don't pay them a dollar. You will likely sell your JK befor rust ever becomes an issue. New cars don't need Ziebart. Yeah right ,they think your an idiot. Jeeps are a dime a dozen,buy your jeep somewhere else.Scotchguard is bogus also. I have a 67 GTO that was "Ziebarted" that lowered the value of the car,and made it more prone to rust,years later(because they put so many holes in the body(frame) to apply it. save your money and take your time ,do the research before you buy.(that is part of the fun) GOOD LUCK

Save your money. I had my 2009 Unlimited X done with Waxoyl after I bought it. Only cost me $300, and that's in Alaska. You should be able to get it done significantly cheaper. Also, Waxoyl application uses the existing holes in the body and frame.
