Yea I'm not sure if there are any write ups on the 4x4 shifter. Go to lowes, or a place like it. Get a handful of nuts that are the rite thread for the shifter. Also buy a bolt or two with the same threads also. Weld about five nuts together, cut the head off a bolt. Now put it together. If you'd like it higher use more nuts and another bolt. I used two bolts making it almost as high as the trany shifter.

Alright so I'm putting together some plans (more like a wish list) of what to buy in the upcoming months, let me know what you guys think:

Smittybilt SRC front and rear bumpers

Rear hitch cargo carrier

THATS THE FIRST ORDER (hoping by end of July)

Smittybilt SRC side armor guards

KC Hilites Driving Lights and Long Range Lights

THATS THE SECOND ORDER (hoping sometime by mid fall)

And I'm considering looking for a cheap hardtop. I don't NEED one, but I really want one especially for the fall/winter. If I come across a good deal, I might jump on it before the armor guards and lights, to get it on before the cold weather rolls around.

Now here's where I need opinions...my soft top is brand new as of about 9 months ago, and does pretty well at sealing in heat. SOO is it worth it to get a hardtop? I wanna hear from people who have had soft tops and hard tops and can compare Also, how much should I look to spend IF I decide to get one?

THANKS!

Baptised Black Betty tonight! Took her offroadin for the first time with the guys through some woods behind a local baseball field. The place is looted with ATV trails, so I took the widest one I could find and followed it all the way through to a road a few neighborhoods down! No pics cause it was crazy dark out =P

Thanks! I love your build thread too! And yeah I'm kinda leaning away from a hard top now because of the fact that the soft top DOES keep in heat well and is conveniant. Hardtop does eliminate sound but I don't mind that :P

So the turn signal actuator broke on my Jeep while down the shore and had to drive home with it broken

Me and my pop took off the steering wheel today and tried fixing it to find that we'd need to take apart the steering column...he decided that since the problem is the broken piece of the actuator is attached to the lever, he would use a grinder to cut off a small piece of the plastic on top of the actuator and take it out, weld it back together, put it back, and gorilla glue the plastic piece back on.

I'll let everyone know how this goes tomorrow! If it doesn't work it gets run up to the shop up the street to get fixed so we don't break things taking it apart..

Been a couple weeks since I've updated this, so to catch up, we fixed the turn signal issue by just cutting back the plastic, welding the actuator back together and pushing the plastic back and gluing it. Honestly you'd have to look right at it to tell anything was done to it

Finally landed a job, but looking tomorrow to get a second one so I can buy more stuff!

I've been reconsidering more lift and I'm willing to save for a while to do it. I figure I want this thing to be functional and fun. BUT I NEED OPINIONS AND HELP PLEASE

I think I'm just gonna go with the RC 4" lift because it seems the best deal for my situation (daily driver, wanna do some wheeling whenever I can, don't need MAJOR flex).

I plan on eventually throwing on 35s which means swapping out the rear axle. I'm leaning towards a Ford 8.8 and then regearing to 4.88 (I think that's it).

What I need help with is what else swapping an axle will entail. I've read up for the past 4ish hours on it, and it seems like I'm gonna need new mounts but am I going to need new brakes/lines/etc.?

Remember, my current paycheck is average about $150 a pay period so I can't be going over the top here, I understand it ain't gonna be cheap, and that you get what you pay for, but I'm looking to take a less expensive route here.

Oh yeah and an SYE is pretty obvious but what about a CV driveshaft?

Ugh SORRY for all the questions I'm just really really really anxious to get this thing going!

So your wanting to stay spring under axle? It will take.. New rear breaklines (40) depending on what condition the brakes are on the 8.8 you buy.. you may or may not need new pads rotors calipers. There the same lug pattern so you will not need new wheels. You will need new spring perches shock mounts ubolts. This all comes in a kit from M.O.R.E (mountain off road enterprises) for about 160$ i believe? also will need a adaptor for your rear yoke. Can get it for 50$ from more. For 4 inches of lift.. you don't need a SYE. Just use the supplied tcase drop brackets. I have the 4" from RC also. It comes with everything. I would recommend getting the hardware pack for a extra 25$ I spent more then that running around trying to find new bolts.

T hat us extremely helpful! Thank you so much! I will definitely cone to this when I go to buy it. And I've been back and forth with the 8.8 I've been considering going to a pick and pull and taking the axles out of an old ram. That should give me at least d60s front and rear. And I've been toying with the idea of a cummins 3.9 swap

I d on't really have the desire to put in lockers right away I mean its not like in anywhere near moab or socal or the rockys! When I have more bank to do that I will but first thing first is getting this all done! I figure due to my lack of knowledge of all this and between school and work and all that, this will take me a large amount of time but its gonna be so worth it when I can slap on a cummins emblem ;D
