Donny, I have found a few links on the distributor conversion, but do you have any links or write ups still that you followed for swapping carbs/distributors and removing all of the "JUNK"?

P.S.: love that blue! Nice rig man!

sorry no links or anything I just got the distributor and carb in got it running good then started removing junk that was not connected any more, it is very simple once you get started.

Well I am having all kinds of issues today with idling and timing. I've followed the instructions per peoples tips on the forum, and the repair manual. I will get it to idle fine, timing set to spec's, and then go drive it down the road a couple of miles, runs great on the highway, then start to slow down and when I come to a stop it will die. From then on same darn thing over and over and over again.

I think tomorrow I am going to do the Nutter Bypass. Then next pay check do the HEI dizzy and motorcraft carb.

If you are going to do the dizzy motorcraft carb you do not have to do the Nutter Bypass, the carb has only a 12 volt power to choke, and the dizzy needs a true 12 volts going to it not the same power lead the old dizzy had, that is not a true 12 volt line it is reduced. Then you will see the vacuum lines and wires that can be removed. Does this make sense????

Yes it makes sense.

I just did the Nutter Bypass, and OMG, what a difference. I do think that I have a vacuum leak somewhere, that I can hear, but can't find. Probably a crack in a line somewhere.

And I still have a slight miss at idle. I am thinking its possibly because of the rusty terminals on the coil post connectors. Maybe I'll soak them in soda this afternoon.

See what speed and maybe a few to many beer can do. All 3 were lucky to walk away from this. You can't take these roads for granted

There is one, you cut open the hood and with the louvers in the panel it releases a lot of the heat. I have noticed that when out on the trails where I am in 4 wheel and moving slow it gets very hot under the hood

The just dont look that good honestly. Maybe brand new they looked okay, but not after 20 years. Stripes really are not my thing anyway.

I see it has been a month since the post about a vacuum leak.

You can find these leaks with a can of WD-40 or Starter Fluid / Just spray the lines and all the places that leaks can occur, with the engine running. The engine will idle up when you spray a leak because the fuel air mixture will improve.
