Custom Dash

I'm really surprised at the jeepers that like my dash, so any suggestion's for improvements would be used in the next mold if I we're to make them to sell.

I cut a deal with the wife. Her and the kids get to go to Myrtle Beach for spring break. (Her sister live's there) And I Build the YJ.

Looks great to me and I would be interested in buying that one if you'd be interested in selling it

Love JEGS

Bought some stuff from Jegs tonight. This is a budget build so I didn't buy the $500 starter and the $400 alternator. But I'm not "Buckwild" Haahaa...

Have you considered making door panels for hard doors to go along with the dash? I know you are building for a different purpose, but mine is a DD and I need door panels.

Love your write-up by the way.

Well, I guess I could make door panels. I'll have to look at mine tomorrow, they're out in the barn. The problem is I have to take a splash off and the make the mold and then make the part. And that my friend's cost $$.

Let me look at all the cost, It might be cheaper to make the mold's and vacuum form the panel's out of plastic rather than doing fiberglass layups.

I'll let you know....

Motors almost ready to go in.

I got the starter, alternator, plug wires, air cleaner. I really didn't want chrome but they cost less. One would think chrome would cost more...but they don't.

Keep in mind, this isn't my 383 that will eventually go in the YJ. So maybe the chrome stuff will get me more $$$ when the 383 is done and I sell this one.....

My Radiator should be here Friday. Trying to decide on the headers, Block huggers or Outside frame headers. I'm leaning on the outside frame.

Mean while...I have to move the YJ over and make room for a 91 Tracker I bought my daughter, it needs a head gasket. I'll post a picture, it's pretty sweet!

4bt is a cummins diesel. I've always wanted one myself to put in a jeep but don't have the funds. You don't see them too often either

Radiator and Headers

The radiator showed up today and I ordered the headers. I did go outside frame headers. Funny thing.. If I were to buy them from AA they would have been almost $400 bucks! Bought them...THE SAME AA headers from Summit for $311!

The garage is almost ready for the Tracker

Daughter's Tracker

Well the YJ got pushed over. Bought my daughter a '90 Tracker that "needed" a head gasket...guess what. I pick up a different motor on Wednesday. We put all new brakes on the front tonight and I'll look at the rear tomorrow. The plan with the tracker is when my daughter is ready to upgrade on her $ and not my $, it will become another toy for you know who.

Curious why you decided to go outside the frame with the headers/exhaust? I am doing a similar project but currently was planning to go with block huggers and stay inside the frame.

There are a lot of header options out there but the Jeep sponsors tend to be pretty pricy. That being said I don't want to find out when I go to install my engine that the headers I choose are not going to fit.

Very true on the Jeep sponsors. I was gonna go block huggers, the cost of good huggers (not the $88 junk ones from China) plus the need to take it in for custom pipe bending I figured would be $7-$800.

With the outside headers I should be around $450, And I plan on doing some wheelin with open headers so it's easier to pop of the mufflers.

Look what showed up today

Not bolted in but I think I like it. Remember, I'm gonna spray the dash with black bedliner coating. I think the fridge in the garage will be covered with Summit & Jegs stickers when I'm done. Your never done with a JEEP.

Now, back to work on this..

Nice build scoop. I also really like the dash. My next build will be a V8 swap but I am going with the 5.3 or 6.0. But that will be later, much later, down the road. Wife is beginning to get a bit pissed at the hours I stay at the shop. Her and the youngest will be out of town again next weekend and I should have mine ready to take to Sanderson(big bend area of Texas) Easter weekend. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see it finished.

I've had a 5.3 in a '01 Z71 and loved it and had a '03 6.0 in a 1500HD crewcab with a 6" lift on 33". 6.0 really didn't like pulling a 28' camper. (8mpg)

I went old school because I'm not up to speed on the electronic part of the newer engines.

I read your build and you went way farther than I intend, I'm just gonna throw mine in some mud.

Or mine will be thrown in mud, snow, trees, rocks and what ever else I need to conqoure to get to my destination matter of fact I had to wash all the mud off of it before I took it to the body shop cause I took it out playing. It will be by no means a pampered jeep

No tracker build. I'm just trying to get it running so I can get it the hell out of the garage so I can get back on the YJ. (and my daughter off my back.)

Lokar shifter ordered

Had no good or bad response on the Lokar shifter so I ordered it tonight. Took a sick day at work ( I do feel like crap ) and went to the pick en pull, got some needed brackets, bleeding the brakes on the tracker tonight....when the wife comes out here to do you know what.
