93 YJ Slow Build

Yea, I guess I'll start another yj slow build. I'm doing a 2.5L to a sbc 383 stroker. This is the first time doing anything like this so any tips will respected. (remember..I said sllooww)

It looked like this when i got it.

Then like this.

When it came in the garage after 2nd gear went.

When 2nd gear went.

My son wrenching.This 350 I bought for $150 ended up being a 2 bolt.

Sold the 2.5L with 175k for $50 and found a 4 bolt block on GL4x4 for $50.

2.5L out, came out pretty easy...No wires cut!

My son in there working on it.
How it sets tonight.

Motor mounts removed

Ordered the Stroker kit today. I did go with the Scat Series 9000. Summit couldn't ship until 9/17 so I went to Jeg's who ship today.
Not sure what motor mounts I will use Novak or AA, Hoping to order them in the morning.
Found a th400 for $200 that I hope to pick up this week.

That's all for now...

After doing alot of looking last night on the motor mounts and the $$ they want I've decided to make my own. AA and Novak want between $130-200. I found a build over on pirate4x4 and he made some sweet ones. I think i can make them for $50 bucks! The Scat kit will be here tomorrow and I'll drop it off at the machine shop on monday. More

A little interior work

Waiting for parts so I decided to remove the stock dash. I'm not sure if I'm just gonna cover it with aluminum (the easy way) or make a mold and do a custom fiberglass layup. Maybe if I go the fiberglass route and it turns out good...I could sell em!

Dirty from the last trip to the Mounds with the 2.5

Kinda a pain in the ars...but gone.

NP231 21 vs 23 spline

Got the 231 23 spline tonight! $150 delivered!

They both are stamped 231J but now I see the difference from a 21 to a 23 spline.

Looks good! Cant wait to see how that mold comes out. You're going to love that Aveneger Carb, had it on my old 92 k1500 383 stroker, 5-spd manual. When floored, that thing SCREAMED when the throttle was wide open :]

Dude, Im really liking the fiberglass dash. I have a '95 in the midst of body work (rust is everywhere) and have been going back and forth on either trying my hand at fiberglass for the dash or fabricating one out of sheet metal. I like the idea of the fiberglass though. Cleaner, lighter............no possibility of rust. =) I will be watching to see how it turns out. Looks great so far.

Thank's I went with fiberglass because I had a box of it and I make prototype molds for a living. My plans also include making a center console. So far, I have $13 bucks in to the mold. I used leftover material from work.

Thing's got slowed down, new exchange student in our house and my daughter had a cross country meet tonight which I'm proud of her..she ran a PR of 19:34!

Picked up the block today

Bored .30 over he checked the balance on the crank and it was balanced( way to go Scat!) balanced the pistons and rods, machined clearance for the rotating assembly and some other little stuff for $525.

Needs a soap bath and then it will be Chevy Orange

Ready to be a Stroker!

Didn't get much done today, Funeral for my wife's grandpa. I did go and pick up a cherry picker, I'm tired of borrowing one. Got if off craigslist for $100 bucks.

Went to use it to load the transmission in the truck to drop off tomorrow for the output shaft change and it's low on fluid
