May have trash in your tank that is getting picked up into the return line you are now using as a fuel line due to its location. Thinking back, I remember running into that problem with a few of the older vehicles I have worked on. the return line doesn't have a strainer on it to keep from getting trash hung up in it.

Right now, from what I read on it, the cell should drop right in. I will do some measuring on mine tomorrow if I don't end up working too late. Do you plan to mount it in the tub, or underneath?

As far as the return line.. I cleaned my entire tank out and drained it also. Got everything out. And I would put the fuel cell in my tub. But cut a whole in it and drop it in a bit. My axle wont even hit my stock tank now so im not two concerned about that

Good deal, trash in the tank may not be the issue. I'm leaning more towards vapor lock now. It wouldn't be a bad idea at all to go ahead & go with a fuel cell if you want.

So is vapor lock when the fuel heats up in the lines? Because my jeep didn't have this issue until I put my exhaust system on. Now one of the pipes runs by the frame and dumps past the tcase skid. And the lines are pretty close to it.

Just learned a little bit of new info.. did not know fuel pumps were designed to push and not pull. My fuel pump is mounted on the fender next to my engine. So its pulling all that fuel threw my whole jeep and pushing it threw like.. 2 ft of line

Ahh, yes, I thought you had mounted it near the fuel tank. I would relocate the fuel pump to a safe place as close to the fuel tank as possible. It would also be a good idea to wrap the exhaust pipe & fuel lines where they are close together for extra insurance.

Today I mounted my fuel pump to the underneath of my tub. Didn't get pics but will tomorrow. Its not below my tank its a little higher then it actualy but hopefully it will work still.. theres only about a ft of line before the pump so it should suck it pretty good! Anyone see a problem with not having it under the fuel level? Should I just have it a little further from the tank and have it so its lower then the tank? You guys have any pics of yours and were you mounted them?

You should be fine mounting it where you said you mounted it. I've put them above & below without an issue so far.

Didn't mean to disappear on ya, had an extremely busy weekend

took her for a test drive today! worked great! so far so good with the fuel. Didnt dog out one time. So your right about the fuel pump location working good Toolman. And thanks Crossfit! Today I got the Fuel issue resolved, Wired up my Rock lights underneath to my Switch panel on my dash, Installed my new CB, Topped off all my fluids and basically just did a Maintenance check on my jeep. Im getting it ready for a 3 Day wheeling event this weekend in IL. I'm experiencing some Noises either in the Tcase or the front Axle... First thing I checked was Front Diff lube and it was fine. Sounds like metal gear noise.. not bad or anything.. just sounds.. Diffrent. I do have a Aussi up front now., could that be causing it?

Sorry guys! Was just having to much fun this weekend at the cliffs! That place is a blast!! Definitely going there again very soon! I have only a couple pics, I have to round everyones up on Facebook then I'll upload them. So this weekend was awesome.. not to much stuff went wrong. I snapped another drivers side shaft so now as soon as I can find a 44 from a waggy I will start perping it and get her in there! Are all the d44s the same in a waggy? Is there a certain year I have to watch out for? Do they come in 44?? Driversside drop??

Iirc you're going to want to look for 1980-91, and avoid the vacuum disconnect.. Also something to consider, they are 6 on 5.5" lug pattern, but can be converted to 5 on 5.5 or 8 lug.. But not 5 on 4.5.. And in all my time at the junkyard I've never seen them with manual locking hubs, so you'll want to look into converting them over

ok So The vacume disconect ones are going to have the same kinda deal as my d30? the shift fork on the passenger side? I'm just starting to research the D44's.. and they dont come with Manual lockout hubs either? I will be putting a ARB In this D44 not a Auto locker so.. Would I need a Manual lockouts?

Yes the vacuum dc is very similar to the yjs..

I've never seen manual hubs on a wagoneer before. Manual lockouts are nice, not only can they help save fuel, as none of your front divetrain components will be moving, but they also function as a fuse in your divetrain, they will likely break before more serious things do. And if something else does break like say a u joint or axle shaft, you don't have to remove them until you get home, just unlock the hub like you'd do anyway
