Hey yjJEEPyj great build, just found it so it may be a little late. I love the jeep and since talk is on the light bar how did you mount it i like the flush look around the windshield instead of bars around. thanks
Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation
Alright guys Almost Ready to Start this forum back up maybe. Axles may be sold this week which will give me some money to buy My truss for front and rear... I have Bought all the .250 DOM for My link systems And the rod ends I have 4 16"travel FOA coilovers W remote reservoirs. So im about ready to start it up. But didnt wanna just start it with just 1 or 2 pics of a few parts. I knwo this forum has been dead for a while now. But life happens I got married and had to pay bill. My Goal is to have it all togeather BY July becuse of the 2nd annual Jeep thing in Marseilles IL at the Cliffs insane terrain
started on my cage today .. Here is a kinda the prosses im doing.. Got the Rear upper Spreader Bar and the Cross sections for the back done.
Here is as far as i got today.. Im planning on working a bit more tomarrow. Renforcing the Weak points at the bends. And the front Top and back top. i wanted to be still able to accses the Rear end cuz my Huskey will be riding with me and my wife in the jeep.
i like that you painted it white to start, and then you just never looked back! you went ahead and swapped in the V8 which most people just talk about doing so i find that impressive. you also build alot of stuff yourself so its always great to see what original stuff people come up with. keep it up!
Today i made a two more peaces for the Front top Cage, I know bends arnt strong in cages but i wanted to add a little design and not just straight tubing everywhere so I will be re forcing the bends later. The reason for this design is i wanted Support threw out the entire roof and not just 2 cross bars in the center. But at the same time i wanted no bars above were the Driver/passengers heads would be in case they ever came out of there seat a bit.
So i will be Doing more tommorw But today these two peaces took me a surprising amount of time getting all the angles and notches right.
here is my Simple easy to use Tube notcher from Jd2 The machine is great.. i just wish i could find some all metal hole saws i burn threw so many bi metals.. if anyone knows were to get a fine took Whole saw let me know.
here is is im in the process of getting everything lined up perfectly.. There is a lot of Fitting.. Taking off grinding a bit.. then all over again.
the V8 swap.. I thought about for about 2 months before.. I knew i was going to do it sooner or later.. so i decided to do it sooner rather then later, Just spent every dime i had on that swap. But i still lived at home and was only 19 so i didn't have much bills .
Super jealous of your time and resources dude. I ended up selling my yj to justify the new family jkur. Worst part is I sold it to the neighbors brother and see it all the time. I had such big dreams for it.
