So here is all the metal peaces i've cut for all the rear Link system tabs.

the longest thing it took me was to drill 15 5/8's holes threw .25 thick Steel... omg i hate drilling

From Left to right
Upper links (frame)
25 degree inner (frame)
Inner (axle Side) the two Tabs by the toolbox
and the two Tabs at either End Close Left and Far left are the outer Link tabs (axle)
thinking i want more plate on these so they dont buckle

Bottom of the fuelcell mount. The 3inch Ettended Angle iron Will have bolts threw it down threw the tub. thats how I plan on mounting it. Want to make a Angle iron Cage around the cell Like i did to the bottom of it. But still want it removable also.

links before I did 1 cross plate on each. The mounts wont look as fancy as the ones i almost bought from Artec but.. They will be Strong and I only spent about 25$ in metal Vs about 250$ i woulda spent in the 8 link brackets if i woulda got from them.

Snowed 4 inches over night and left a nice slimy park the next day. His s10 we built last winter. Full exo cage coils up front sterling 10.25 out back. Full hydro and the works. 38.5 tsl's

Funny story as to what happened after this pic. Got a little sketchy cuz the back tire slipped off the ledge And about dragged the Truck off with it. Would prolly ended up on the top Or on the side for sure. But My brother felt the Back drop And gassed it hard and pulled to the right. Barley dragged the tire up on the bank again.

There is the Track the tsl's Made chewing the bank to Try to crawl back up. And there is Austin checking it out.

Was a Great Read !! And very educational as well, as I am new to the YJ scene, previous CJ owner about 15 years ago, just bought a 94' YJ about 6 weeks ago. Glad to see such a young man jumping head first into such a project. Instead of spending all his time playing video games.

I have built drag car motors, chassis, and 4x4's all my life, since I was 14, and I am soon to be 47. You have some good skills for your age, and definitely have the dedication it takes to complete such a project. Hats off to you !!! and I am quite sure your Father is proud of your accomplishments and dedication. I am also sure you will do quite well in life too.

This was one of my first 4x4 builds in my early twenties.

An 85' S10 factory 2.8 5 spd. 4:11 gears 4 inch Rancho tubular a-arm kit, SOA rear. and the first set of 33x12.50 SS Thornbirds sold by National Tire and Wheel out of Wheeling, VA.

This is the 2.8 motor I built for it, full Comp Cams valve train, Holley 465 mechanical 4 barrel (picture shows a 600 Edelbrock, never used), 11:1 forged full floating pistons, X11 aluminum heads, fully balanced rotating assembly w/forged rods and crank. 1500-8500 rpm all day long.

Then I sold it a couple years later and built me a 304 CJ7 4inch springs on a SOA with 36's. Been hooked on Jeeps ever since.

Got a lot of ideas for it, but have been replacing all the rubber mounts and bushings with Polyurethane, and just fixing reg. issues. Mounted a light bar, new console, added an S10 leafs to all the spring packs and got rid of the junk Warrior lift shackles that were on it when purchased. I got a 389 inch SBC stroker motor sitting in the barn, but thinking about going thru the I6 4.0 to keep the fuel injection. I am sure it will get higher up too. Prob do a SOA and 4 inch leaf like yours, with 9 inch rear and Dana 44 front. Not a lot of rock crawling area around here, mostly mud holes and mountains. Most of the rock is straight up and down.. lol

Thanks, back in the early 90's it was quite a truck the Rancho Tube A-arm kit was newly released and the Thornbird tires had just hit the market. It is nothing to todays standards for 4x4's, but I had a lot of fun with it back then. My older brother had bought it new, actually ordered it, so he would get the gears he wanted, etc. Then in 93 he bought a new Z71 and sold me this truck, but it was mostly all stock when I got it.

Nice! There isnt much rocks here ether. Just hills and Mud mainly. Im trying to keep my jeep Decently Low for the hills but tall enough to get threw the mud pits with no problem. Im getting ready to Start putting in the back axle but am quickly looking threw As much pictures as i can to make sure that I have the right idea as to how to install it. I will tack everything 1st then Cycle the suspension And See if anything hits. From what i saw My coil overs should be mounted Almost at the ends of the Truss So they are slightly Wider at the Bottom then the top. And some people mount the Rear coil overs with the Top More twards the back. I guess the axle does move Up and forwards slightly...

Been Busy lately Working on other peoples rigs But today i put in some Shop time. The current height Wold not work from the Clearance i needed at the top of the Truss + the link on top. The back was no issue but the Front Right above the Truss is a Engine Cradle For the 350. So i jaked her sky high! Then brought it back down 6 inches.. But i Think i like the height as i play in more deep mud then climb hills plus the Weight of these massive axles/Truss/wheel/tire combo will i think really keep all the wheels rooted well. I can always adjust it down the Road if i don't like the Height.

After i jacked it way up. Dont judge my Jack stand style up front haha

Brought it back down a bit

in the next 3 hours i got All the link tabs tacked on And Cut a layout of my Rod's of PVC just to make sure evrything works before start chopping into My 1 3/4 x.250 Dom

Now I am Thinking of Going With the coilovers 8" of up and 8" of down. Some people do 6" up and 10" down. but feel like the way i drive i am Going to need more Impact travel then expend. But that can always be fixed with different springs and such. So right now I am goign to Lay it out as if The ride will be centered on the coil over.

Im so glad I had all the Links Layed out on Graph paper Before I jumped into this. Just figureing it out as i went would not of works and By reading threw a few builder books really helped me make a stronger 4 link. And I had no clue about Squat or Tire turn Before i red some of thoes books. If anyone else is building a 4link from scratch i recommend getting some info on it and using a link calculator 1st. The Lowes are angled think 10 degrees n from the axle. The uppers are 25 degrees I was going to go with a 35 degree angle But it Just had the Link so short.. So i lenghtend them out a bit and feel like I will still have plenty of strength with 25 degrees.

Got all My Rear 4 links cut and tacked into place everything lines up perfect.

Today spent most of the Day cutting Fitting measuring Running around town getting hardware. So I finnaly got this. It's going to be very sturdy and Also acts as a Frame Tie in. I notced out part of my Frame becuse there just wasnt enough room for My Coilover to move between the frame and Tire. I will cut some metal and Weld it in tomorrow but The shock tower Will renforce that anywasy.

Got to make a top to the tower that will tie into the Cage

again if anyone sees something wrong that im missing or a better way to do it let me know!

i had lost a little Steam on the jeep the last couple weeks cuz It is time for me to go back to work for the summer Also I was stuck at a point were THe front D60 Ujoints were froze and I as unable to get the Axle nuts out. Also MY shop was SOOO dirty i just was overwelmed with missing tool and that stuff.. so today i had the Day off and i Cleaned and organised my shop, Also I got bolth Axle shafts off and Ordered new U-joints So next step will to be to start designing the front $ link. I am planning on goign Triangulated uppers if i can make that work.

Just after i Cleaned Organized and junked a bunch of stuff in my shop.

Some Pics of the Front 3 Link system. After Cycling it over a few times, I notice that the Front axle Shifts from Left to right because i believe the Track bar IS at to much of a angle.

Haven't gotten the shafts yet. I have hooked up all my gauges (3 of them) and ordered a new high cfm electric fan. Just picked up a hydraulic cooler, wired my fuel pump, put in a new starter, and got the jeep running again. Now I'm heading out to install the inline hydraulic cooler. Then test out my steering!
