Your going to get a 50/50 response on this. Some are going to say don't waste your money, get a bigger motor. Others are going to say, huge improvement.

I like my 4 banger. Do I wish I had v8 power; yes. But offroad my jeep kills it. I say, if u like your jeep, give it all u can.

I have one. I also really like the spectra cowl intake. It's made for the TJ, but I bet it would work on a YJ.

Good luck!!

get rid of your 4 banger and get a bigger motor!! LOL joking! and as a former "RICER" i've used cold air intakes on everything i've owned and still own and they aren't "HUGE" improvments but i like the sound they make and they do help some. I agree every little bit helps.

glad to help. I don't have a problem with a good ole 4 banger. They do alot of work for such a small package and do very well.

I have a '95 with a 2.5l engine with the AEM Brute Force Cold air intake installed and I couldn't be happier. Honestly, I didn't do it for the supposed performance increases. Short of installing a diesel or a v-8, 4-cylinder Wranglers will always be slow.

That said, I did feel a very slight increase in midrange power, in the sense that on inclines on the freeway, I don't always have to downshift into 4th to maintain speed. My main reason for installing the AEM intake was for the ease of maintenance. Instead of replace the paper filter every 10,000 miles or so, I just have to screw it off and rinse it clean. That's the primary benefit for me and worth any extra money I invested. Any slight performance increase is a bonus.

Something else that may help...when you remove the old air filter,box.etc.you may wanna remove your throttle body and clean it good..also have a shop-vac on hand to suck out any crap that falls in holes lol

Good question as I was wondering the same thing, I have a 95 wrangler with the 2.5. It has enough power for me, more is always better, but I like my little 2.5.

I used to have a big block chevy 4x4, but I have grown up since then.

Does the AEM do anything at all for gas milage ? I ask as I'm teetering on getting one and if it helped that could be enough for me to justify it.

I don't think you would really notice any power gains

I didn't notice any power increase with my air tube on a 4.0, but it did move the intake to a higher place while crossing streams, that alone was worth it for me.
