Carburetor

What's the best carb for the trails? I have a 87 4.2 .. I currently have a weber and it cuts out when I get on the gas hard for a second and then let off.. Sometimes it dies

I use the motorcraft 2150 and it works fine, it is a new one not rebuilt, do you have a clean fuel filter?

That's a good question ill check tonight, I was told by another jeep friend that I probably won't like the weber so I was just curious if that was his personal opinion or if it was a common problem when using it for a trail rig... It smells rich and has some trouble starting in the morning

Some folks find the weber difficult to tune & maintain, but they seem to work OK if set up correctly (right fuel pressure, etc).

I have a MC2100 that works great, idles at crazy lean angles, will easily bark 31s w/ stock gears & gets 15-17MPG in town.

There are some big fans of Holley carbs, too. I've run them on plenty of muscle cars, but they tend to be a bit pricey & are hard to find in the junk yard.

The MC only cost me 90 bucks to buy & rebuild. 3+ years later, I haven't had to touch it once.

I think I'm going to be selling this weber to buy a mc 2100.... This thing cuts out briefly periodically and don't do well on angles
