Looks like great progress on the project!
I need to do shock mounts and 14" shocks on my YJ too.
Where did you get those uppers from and how much? I don't have a rear body section so I could just do 4 uppers like that front and rear.

I am running the same shock hoops front and rear as well. The are from Ballistic Fabrication, $70 per set. I am keeping my body though. I will just remove whatever sheet metal gets in my way.

Here is a link to the 4link calculator I have been using. I am certainly no expert on 4 link suspension. I have done a bunch of research on what all of the values on this thing mean and am still not entirely sure. I guess I will know more once I get it together and see how well it works. I will post up the numbers I am getting once I get a few minutes to input all of my current parameters.

Got my shock hoop support wrapped up today and all of my rear links cut to size . I have to get the links notched for the bushing end still. I was really hoping to get all of the links finished up this weekend but I ended up having to work tonight so that isn't going to happen.

Awesome, thanks for the link to the shock hoops!

How far back are they from the rear of the front grill? and what is the angle that you have them sitting at?

Mine interfere with the grill. I am going to need to clearance the grill a little bit. My axle is moved forward about 3" though. If my axle was in the stock location it would be fine. I am going to have to cut my hood and fenders for clearance. If I were ok with more lift or shorter shocks I could have mounted the hoops lower and not had to cut up my hood and fenders. They come with short pieces of tube to mount horizontally to the frame where the hoops can mount lower than I mounted mine.

I mounted them at a ten degree angle towards the tire. That will put my shocks at a ten degree angle too. My axles are also wider than stock too.

My YJ sits on a stretched frame with a full size GM 8 lug axles. A GM 10.5 front and a corporate 14 rear. Front end is SOA and rear is 3 link with 1/4 Elliptical suspension, but no shocks.

Makes for a bouncy buggy ride.

So when I do the shocks, I am kind of going to look like this:

Right now I'm like this:

That is a cool YJ Indiroc. Looks like you could use more than a 14" shock in the rear. That is some pretty crazy flex.

I started mocking up the rear shock hoops tonight. Not sure which way to go yet, but I am leaning towards the more traditional upright set up. The passenger side has the hoop leaned out with the shock mount on the inside. Any thoughts? The high lift jack handle made a good make shift shock.

Got a little done tonight. I patched the last remaining rust hole in the frame. Both sides had holes under the old rear shock mounts.

I also started fabbing the supports for my front control arm mounts. I am going to make a piece to cap the ends as well.

Now I am just waiting on my Tubing Notcher to show up so I can finish building my rear links. Once I get them put together I can articulate the axles and make sure everything works so I can finish weld all of the brackets. I ordered the Harbor Freight Notcher. Everything I read basically said "you get what you pay for but it gets the job done". We will see. After I get the Jeep back together and running the next phase will be tube fenders and a cage so I will definately need the notcher for all of that.

Oh yea...I almost forgot...I bought another Jeep today. I picked up a 95 YJ with a 4cyl and 5sp and no front or rear axles. I paid $200 for the whole thing. I need the family style cage out of it and the NP231. The rest of it will be going to scrap soon unless someone needs something from it. let me know quick because I wont have it long.

Abouth the NP231. I have read that I can pull the 23 spline input shaft from my NP242, or is it a 249, from the Grand Cherokee and put it in the 231 so it mates with my tranny. Does any one know for sure if that is possible? I now have three t-cases and none of them are the one I need. I have the stock NP207, the 242 or 249 out of the 95 Grand, and now the 231 from the 95 YJ.

Parts...Got my spare Jeep today. Paid $200. I will be pulling the NP 231 and swapping the input shaft out of my NP 249. Getting the gas tank so I have the in tank pump to feed my 5.2. Taking the steering box because it is easier than trying to get the drop pitman arm off the one I have now, plus mine is leaking pretty bad. I am pulling the family style cage so my kids finally have shoulder harnesses. The seats that came with this Jeep are in better shape than mine too. I have a guy coming to look at what is left and hopefully will get my $200 back. Now that is a win!

Parts Jeep went off to UPFJ Jeep salvage yesterday. I probably could have made more money back in scrap, but I couldn't live with myself for that. So...I got the gas tank, steering box, t case, roll cage, and steering column for $70. I think I did good huh.

Got my Harbor Freight Tubing Notcher today. I was able to finish up my rear links. I oficially have a 4 link! I was hoping to get some flex shots, but I ran out of time. Stay tuned...I will get to that tomorrow.

Notcher in action. I was happy with it's performance. I know a lot of guys say that it is a cheap tool and you get what you pay for, but it sure does a better job than a grinder.

Not too bad of a weld. i am definately improving.

The parts Jeep is gone now. I got the NP231, Gas Tank, steering box, steering column, and roll cage all for $70. Now I am going to have to pull the input shaft out of my 249 and transplant it into the 231.

The 4 links work great, no binding throughout the travel. I found that I am going to have an issue with my shocks though. Now I see why guys narrow the rear section of the frame.http://www.wranglerforum.com/images/.../zbanghead.gif I need the back seat to be functional for the kids. So...

Looks like I will have to go with my previous alternate plan for the rear shock hoops. I won't have any issues getting to the bolts because they will be above the rear wheel wells. (I took some measurements from the parts Jeep before it went away). Of course this means that the shocks will now hit the frame at full droop. I have enough room to notch the frame for clearance.

Lots of welding today. All of my suspension mounts are permanent now. I love how the bracing for the front frame mounts turned out. It is too bad they are on the inside of the frame.

I got one of the rear shock hoops finalized too, but did not get a pic yet. I will get the other one done tomorrow and start on clearancing the frame so my shocks fit.

Lots of welding this weekend...did I say that already? The suspension is done. I just need to find a little cash to get my Air Shocks. Final pics of rear shock hoops. If you look through the holes in the shock hoops the front and rear are almost perfectly aligned, that wasn't planned, but it will put the shocks at the same angle front and rear.

In the picture there is a full 3 feet under the rear tire and the front still has 6 1/2" of travel left. I should be able to get at least another foot under the rear tire before I max out the front. This is way more than I expected. I am really excited to get this thing together now.

I cut a huge notch in the rear of the frame for shock clearance.

Plate welded on to close up the huge hole I created. I have a little grinding to do and I am going to weld a plate on top from both legs of the hoop just to make sure everyhing stays strong. There is only 1/2" of frame left at the narrowest point.

Thanks, I can see the light at the end of tunnel. Fab work is almost complete. Just need to get my motor mounts and I can get the frame painted and start assembling. I hate to say it because I could jinx myself, but the deadline is not looking so unachievable.

I just ordered my ballistic fab shock hoops and shocks for the front today. Can you post a few more pictures of your front setup? I am looking on best ways to mount them up to the axle and best angles.

I ordered the D44 brackets from Ballistic for the front and regular shock tabs for the rear. I have not mounted either yet. I have been focusing all of my energy on the frame so far. The D44 brackets are cool because they gusset the C's as well.

My hoops are leaning out 10 degrees and my shocks will be leaning in right around 10 degrees. I don't know if that is ideal or not, but that is where I am at.

I don't know what else I have to show you. Let me know if you want something specific and I can get you some more pics. I have the dimensions I need for the bracket spacing so I can even get them welded soon if that will help.

I guess the only thing that would help is seeing where you are placing your lower brackets on the axle. I ordered some mounts for 4" axle tubes, but I may have been a little too anxious. I didn't see the D44 ones on Ballistic for whatever reason so I ordered these channel like ones off of a different place.

I also just found this for shock angles:
