hardtop swap

I am buying a hard top to put on my 95...it was originally a softop...is there a thread showing what needs to be done (prepwork whatnot) and or bought...getting hardware as well. It is used. Is there anything I should make sure I get from the seller?

I just purchased my YJ hardtop off Craigslist $250 with hard doors included.. This past weekend.

You will need windshield header gasket, tub gaskets and tub mount hardware.. Im not gonna install my hardtop or hard doors till late fall.... Going Softop all Summer!!!!

I didn't use the replacement tub and windshield gaskets instead I used foam tape I got at Home Depot. I was lucky and got the tub bolts with the top and used stainless steel sheet metal screws to secure the top at the windshield. I didn't get a rear window with my top so I made one out of 1/4" dark plexiglass.

I thought the front just sat on the windshield frame, was your top warped and the need for screws necessary? Sorry for the thread hijack.

The top was meant to sit on the frame with a gasket under it , there is a metal strip that is riveted to the fiberglass top that is screwed to the top of the windshield in the inside above the visors.

I put the hard top from my '90 onto my '93 ('93 came factory with a soft top).
I needed to adjust the windshield back a bit, which I did by loosening the hex bolts on the back of the main bar hoop that went into the bars going to the windshield, then loosening the top torx bolts on the bars that go to the windshield, and adjusting them back 1/8", then re-tightening everything in reverse order that I posted, thsi pulls the windshield back and it was enough to make the bard top fit correctly.

I also had to replace the windshield header with the seal kit on Quadratech:

OMIX-ADA 12304.05 - Omix-Ada Hardtop Left Hand Corner Seal for 87-95 Jeep® Wrangler YJ - Quadratec
OMIX-ADA 12304.06 - Omix-Ada Hardtop Right Hand Corner Seal for 87-95 Jeep® Wrangler YJ - Quadratec
and
OMIX-ADA 12304.10 - Omix-Ada Hardtop Weatherstrip Kit & Pipe for 76-95 Jeep® CJ Series & Wrangler YJ - Quadratec

make sure you get ALL of the old weatherstripping off, or it will leak and you will end up with ALOT of wind noise...

Re-adjusting the full hard doors was easy....

See this link for a brief on it:

Hey guys, new user here with the exact same issue. I've got a 95 with a soft top and I'm going to put a hard top on it. I've purchased the hard top already but I'm trying to verify all the parts are present before I attempt to install it.

Asking a big favor from a newbie, I know, but could anyone with a YJ that has a hard top take and post a couple pictures of where it mounts and with what hardware?

I know the rear just bolts down but its the front that I'm most concerned about.

Thanks in advance! If posted pictures to this forum is too troublesome please email them to me at Heltonwelding@yahoo.com

I've tried to find the images that I needed through hours of Google searches but I'm just not finding the right search results.

Just keep in mind that that the uppers from your soft top may not work with the hardtop if my memory serves me correctly. You may want to check on that if no one else chimes in. I know I have a set of full soft doors that won't work with mine.

Modified TJ uppers, or full hard doors are needed...

Thanks for the advice. I actually also bought 2 metal doors from a hardtop YJ as well so I'm ok there, just need help with the hardware for mounting the hardtop.
