hole in a rear left corner

A quick question... what is this hole used for?

A torx bolt goes through there it has something to do with the tailgate locking mechanism.

Defcon 1 is on a distinguished road
That hole is for the tailgate striker-pin bracket. A screw goes through that hole and connects with the bracket that holds the tailgate door striker.

Hahaha! I was.going to do this for P.O.s sake when I.got home from work but I forgot until now!

Outside: (you already know its a torx - and what the back of a Jeep looks like, I hope. Haha! - so I took if from striker angle)
