I have the exact same Distance between my Water pump pulley and the Puller fan haha. But it never has given me any trouble with bouncing around and stuff. So i think your safe.
And did I hear your still runnign a d35/d30 combo as of now? Thats dangerous! I put a sbc 350/350t/np231 tcase in mine Carb Holly truck avenger. I never drove it with the D35 but put in a 8.8. The 1st weekend of wheeling i broke 3 Axle shafts nt he D30 and completely ripped ripped apart the ball joints.. Id recommend swapping the D35 and d 30 out as soon as ya get the funds. Im in the process of putting in a Ford HP Kingpin d60 front and a Sterling 10.25 rear. Then going to beef out the Sbc to Put out the power.

Mine has a gm 8 lug 12 bolt out back and 8 lug 10 bolt (D44 equivalent) in the front.

I really like that radiator!

TexasDemon, hows that radiator working for you? and did you keep the puller fan, and what type of control did you use on the fan?

Haven't had much time to work on Jeep. I'm still dealing with fuel pressure issues and transmission cooler lines. The radiator fits great, the trans cooler line inlet and out seem kinda small. As a matter of fact I was fixing to post a question about that. Do I need flare lines going and coming out of radiator to transmission? I did go with puller in the fan and still don't know about controller. The inlet and outlet on the radiator look like this:

Are the transmission cooler lines low or high pressure?

Ok, got everything hooked up. I have lined up TDC twice. Checked all the plug wires. But no starty. Acting like there's no spark. Now on other threads I've read about exciter wire from alternator. What's that? Also I am using Jeep computer for gauges and stuff. Does that have anything to do with it?

I wouldn't think the jeep computer would have anything to do with it. With you having carb it should be pretty simple as long as your getting power to the coil and distributor you should get spark. Id pick up a spark tester at the parts store and that would answer the spark question quickly.

How did you wire the ignition? If you bypassed all the original Jeep computer stuff you should be good (check for 12v at the coil with the key on). If you are trying to patch into the Jeep computer to drive the ignition I think you have a lot of engine related items you need to wire so the computer knows that the engine is there, rotating, etc.

Short version, much easier to bypass the Jeep computer unless there is another reason.

I am using the stock Jeep harness and computer to run fuel pump and gauges. I used same alternator wire to fuse box and all stock wiring to starter. I found a wire on the harness that comes on with the key and used that for the hot wire to hei distributor. It's almost started a couple of times. It kinda sputtered and backfired but that's about it.

Unless you know that the wire you connected as the 12 volt source to the hei is not being influenced by the computer I would try running a hot 12 volt wire from the battery to the coil just to determine if that is the source of the problem.

You may want to confirm your distributor timing is correct (not 180 out) - that is firing #1 on the compression stroke.

Ok, I'm looking for shifter ideas. I bought a Lokar 23" floor mount shifter but it won't work because the 4WD shifter is in the way. I need a cable shifter instead of linkage one. So everyone that has converted to V8, what did y'all use? Pics would be great.

I've been reading other 350 builds going on and several are using the stock fuel pump. I've tried it with a regulator and can't seem to dial down to the 6.5 needed for my carb. Any low pressure fuel pumps that will fit in stock location?

So I decided to bypass the in tank fuel and go with an external pump. I went with this set up.

exciter wire is the small wire going to the alternator..it should get voltage when the key is turned on but should have a small resistance in series..you can use a small ohm resister or I have just wired a light in series and stashed it away under the dash.when you turn the key on the light will light up but as soon as you crank it,it will go out...an alternator light on a car does the same thing..just run your 12volt from the ign sw to one leg on the light and off the other leg run it to the alternator

yw...I personally like the light but should you want to use a resister instead,I would use about a 10 ohm resister rated at 10 watts

I am using the Lokar like you bought on one of mine but it is on a chevy 350 turbo and it has a chevy transfer case too.I made the transfer case shifter out of a harley handle bar.they both work great.when I am building something I just look around the shop to see what I can use and I had a ton of them laying around..
