Just thought I would share my sbc build. Bought the JEEP with a bad computer back in October for $1500. 2.5 man 5 with 110,000 miles. Never even drove it before I went to work. It was stock except for 2 inch body lift.
*Installed a zone 4 inch suspension lift
*33X12.5X15 procomps and duratracs.
*I bought a sbc from a body for $150 bucks. It a late 60-80's block with vortec heads, edelbrock performer intake, RV cam, and Holley 2 barrel carb.
*I have taken off the intake man. and cleaned it up, primered, sealed and painted it.
*Pulled the heads and pressure washed them.
*I am reinstalling the heads and intake hopefully tomorrow..
The rest of the drivetrain with be a 700r4 with the front half of a 231c and the backhalf of the jeeps 231j.
I have no idea how long it will take. I am hoping by the end of summer. I am a teacher and do not work in the summer, so I have plenty of time to work on it. I am going to go to the parts store and get gaskets to get heads and manifold back on today. I also have a boat and do a lot of great lakes salmon/trout fishing (which isn't cheap) so the jeep has to share alotted money with fishing. I will also need to find a good 700r4 to finish off the drivetrain.
Got the 5m and transfer case out last night. Just need to unhook and pull 2.5. Then the fun starts. The sbc is just about ready also. Just need to do rear main seal and get a new oil pan gasket, headers, valve covers, and power steering brackets and pump. Trying to get it ready for the sleepy bear sand dunes labor day weekend. It'll be close! Pics to come as I am now at lake house.
What year of blazer did you get the trans and T-case out of? Is it a non electronic trans? I'm going to start to do the same swap I a already have a SBC so I'm starting the slow process of gathering parts
