Horn and more playtime

I finally got my horn button in the mail from quadratec. Not complaining just saying that it was 1 of two orders that have been on back order going on over a month now the other is still showing back order.
So here is the proper way to install your aftermarket horn. At least in my experience. I've had one on all three of my vehicles and have not had an issue yet. I know it comes up often.

Wheel with goofy Grant horn button.

I say you do not need the smaller of the springs. Some people say you do but I never used it and have had success so it is really a matter of opinion.
This is how it should simply look.

Notice the height difference of these two pieces. I have also noticed with grant products they are never exactly the same even if they are the same part number. THIS particular piece I have always had trouble with. I went with the taller one.

By the way make sure your wheels are straight. I know its dumb but I always forget it.

This peice covers the previous picture.

I of course forgot to take the next picture being in a rush, but you cant mess this step up. the brown peice with metal backing gets bolted down on top of that black cover. the wire is attached to the brown peice. the bolt goes down to hold the steering wheel in. and the spring is placed on top of the bolt. I say you do need this spring I have a friend who doesn't use it and wonders why his horn will randomly sound.

I also forgot the final picture but will post it up with my next update. but click the horn button on and press and it should work. it really is, or should be, that simple.

This is why I was rushing. Me and my buddies went back in Batsto

I turned this but it won't go on here without going back so I don't know

We did a slip n' slide down the hill into the river. Genius. People were stopping in their canoes to watch.

Not much wheeling to be done back there but a great done none the less.

Me and my friend both snapped brand new tow straps trying to get a kid out of a mudhole in his stock explorer lol. After an hour and a half of digging and draining the hole somebody showed up with a high lift and all was well.

Until the hour ride home in thunderstorms with no tops!!

Tbi

First of all the steering wheel with horn button installed and working horn

Now for the TBI rebuild for my reference and yours

Kit with TPS

Start Here

Remove Cover

Remove this guy be sure not to lose any pieces

Start unplugging wires and vac hoses (4)

Unplug injector harness. Not necessarily right now but its where this picture fell

Disconnect this throttle cable and 4 of those pesky bolts. HAVE patience.

all 4 bolts removed stuff a rag down that hole.

Separate the two halves and remove FPR cover

My camera decided it wouldn't work anymore but clean up all the surfaces install new, FPR, TPS, Injector, Idle Speed control motor. Whatever you have at this time and install is exact opposite of tear down.

And it is that simple

If Wharton is the same as Batsto then yes I go there a lot. We do go to two other places that are totally illegal and I'd rather not mention, but I really don't know of too many places. My two "other" spots are great though

Yes, Batsto is in Wharton State Park. Same thing.

I'm always looking for new spots. If you feel like sharing, message me.

Update: Total Loss

I have not been updating for a while because I honestly haven't had to time to post pictures or anything. I made a great deal of progress and everything was looking good until:

Last Monday I was leaving a Wal-Mart near my house making a left turn. It is a T intersection and I was the fourth car in line to make a left. Someone ran a red light coming from my right fast at me and I didn't know what to do. I jumped the curb. Damages are as follows -

Broke Front suspension. Leaf Springs completely shot and fenders are sitting directly on tires.
Transmission skid plate ripped straight through the bolts which are still in the frame.
That skid plate apparently supports the transmission and exhaust because both dropped with such force that I need a new exhaust, or at least that section, and it seems as though something around the clutch or flywheel cracked.

The insurance company doesn't seem like they are even considering repairing it as they immediately sent me a letter asking me to remove all personal belongings for total loss.

Appraiser comes wednesday.

If I keep it I will be doing about 4000 dollars in upgrades because since these things all broke there is no reason to just repair when I could upgrade.

I am really upset considering I've hardly even had it that long and this happens, but if I don't keep it I may just go and get a Brand New JK. That way any problems I will know I caused myself.

Yes stock suspension so in a way it just will give me the push to lift it early. The only reason I have been waiting to lift is because the tires were a week old when I bought the Jeep and I am way too cheap to buy new wheels and tires if I don't need them.

So YES if I decide to fix I will be that guy with the lifted jeep and small tires. I just don't care lol.

I would like to start by apologizing for my build Hiatus. More to myself though sucks I missed the entire last month of Summer, But I did have a great month long Vacation to the shore! Woo

First off the not so serious upgrade

Now on to the realness

That is how it sat for 2 weeks while I was gone.. Irresponsible of me.

Had to take that nasty sway bar completely out to install my kwik discos

Sure enough got it figured out. Look at those brand new scuffed springs. AMATEUR!

I made a mess spilling oil. That was a blast to clean up.

Since my passenger side body lift is done and front suspension this corner represents how much lift I actually gained! from 16 inches at the body to 23.5 !! Yeah buddy

Body lift in there ! Was much easier than I anticipated. I will explain why only passenger side is done shortly.

Got the exhaust out in 1 giant sloppy piece

Here it lies in my scrap metal graveyard. Anybody know if they still give decent money for cats?

Rear Driveshaft out, Still working on Tcase

Anybody want a basketball? Someone left it in my front yard so I gave it to the trash can.

These dumbs hinges with their fancy ass torx bolts. But what beats a torn in uselessness

These guys! Ha I will have to wait until all repairs are done to get these hinges off and new ones on I guess

Other hinge and my fancy antenna that I like so much.

I know its a dumb Q but anyone know how to make these point the direction they are supposed to?

So now on to plans where I am going from here -
Finish removing Transfer Case.
Questions
I Only have 5 bolts and where the 6th stud should be there is nothing. I have seen other T cases like that is this normal or bad?
How do I remove the shift linkage?
How do I remove upper bolt behind shift linkage it is very hard to access
remove Transmission
replace clutch, pilot bearing, slave cylinder, master cylinder, flywheel, oil pan gasket, oil pump, and rear main seal.
Once the transfer case and transmission are out I am going to put my rear suspension on while I rebuild the other parts

I am also putting motor mount lifts on and the belly up skid to finalize all of this. I will post more pictures and questions as I progress. School begins in 2 days time to move fast.

VDP sound bar got it from quadratec. I Love the sound. I hooked up the dome lights to a switch that I mounted next to my fog and offroad light switches.

I'm also wondering about the 5 bolts on the transfer case. Mine only had 5 nuts on it. We might must be an oddity.

Cool build. Sucks about the accident, glad you are able to repair it.

There are supposed to be 6 nuts, one on each tcase stud. However if the 5 were tight and one was just missing I doubt any damage was done. I would stick a 6th nut back on when you put er back in place.

I was on the final step today to be back on the road. Putting my transfercase back together and in. I did not know that the shift mode fork had to be cut down (I should have paid more attention) and I ended up cracking the rear half of the case when putting the tail housing on. I am beyond upset because now I will have to order these parts and have to wait who knows how long.

In the meantime I got my hardtop on since it was nice today I figured I'd rather not wait and have to do it in the cold or rain.

Well after all this time the Jeep is finally done the accident repairs. I will be posting pictures tomorrow as it is too dark now.

I do have one question if anyone can answer it. One front shackle mount is nearly broken off. Does anyone know of a good shop in Southern NJ to take the Jeep to have a new one welded on. I Just don't feel comfortable doing that myself. If not where else could I take it.

About 3 weeks ago NJ DMV sent my Salvage title packet back rejected. Instead of issuing me a Free Clear title like NJ does on a salvage they expect me to pay about $383.00 for this reason:

The original owner lived in Pennsylvania.

And that is not a joke! So I found a guy down in Absecon willing to trade for a vehicle on a salvage title.

So unfortunately as much as I wish I still had the YJ I now have this:
ZJ - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0

It has a brand new 3.5" Lift on it and I am getting 31x10.50s for Christmas! I will be looking for another project Wrangler in the Summer definitely another YJ.

So wait...You gave up on your build for $383? Or, there was no way to ever get a salvaged title?

Okay I agree that the $383 is too much, but why didn't you just pay it after all the time work and money you put into that YJ?
