New YJ?...summer project!

So I got a 2.5l, 5 speed YJ a while ago, but it was cold and I didn't really feel like trying to make it look nice in -10 degree temps. However, now that it's getting warm again and school is getting out, I have time and the weather on my side. Bear in mind I'm doing this on the budget of an 18 year old.😬

First on the agenda, was to take hard top off and put the soft top on, which wound up taking 5 AND A HALF HOURS. Between stripped screws, bent frames, and general chaos, it was a nightmare. However, I now have my soft top on!😁😁

I then decided that it was time to move the trail lights down off the little mini-stinger/bull bar/whatever it was called, and put them on the bumper like virtually 85% of the jeep community does lol. That wound up being a hassle, because the previous owner (I'm going to continually piss and moan about the PO, they have made everything so much harder, so bear with me haha) didn't make the individual light cords long enough and they just ran the power cords all over the front of the jeep and zip tied them, and I had to splice more wire in, then run it behind the front bumper, and up to the lights. On the agenda for tomorrow is replacing the muffler and tailpipe hangar, which should be sooooo much fun. (can you feel the sarcasm jumping out from the words?) After that I plan on figuring out what my ticking noise is (I've got a good idea already, shouldn't be serious), addressing the welded on tailgate hinge as mentioned in the other thread I started, then fixing the broken tracbar bracket, and redoing the interior. Once I FINALLY fix all the immediate, small things, I can make her look nice and purty😁😁😁
I'll keep you guys posted as I progress, and try to put pics up when I can!

Oh yeah, I forgot to say, if you have any helpful tips or ideas for relatively inexpensive and non time consuming projects for it, chime right in!

Welcome to the Club!!

I would suggest you dive into getting it safe and road worthy...do a complete service to include fluid changes...tune up...check the brakes and all...once you have that done, it'll make your parents feel better, start saving as much money as you can...you'll need it for the mods you'll see and want...and above all else...have fun!!...good luck and keep asking questions...Gunny Out!!!
