Replacing passenger floor pan

Just recently purchased a 95 yj 4cyl. The passenger side floor is rusted out , but he had a new floor pan already . I do not have any experience with body repairs or fabricating. Does the floor pan need to be welded in? And do I have to cut the rest of the floor out before trying to force the new pan down in there? BFH is on standby to get this thing down to floor level.

I welded in my drivers side repair panel but there are as many ways to hold them in place as there are people putting them in.

I would cut out the old, rusty metal and once it is in place seal the edges top and bottom to cut down on new rust formation.

Depending on the part you have it should fit without to much persuasion but you want to get it down as tight to the old as you can.
