the guy before me put a 3 inch body lift and it dosnt seem like he moved the shifter locations back any, should they be? it shifts and everything fine, but thanks will be ordering my plate soon love the look

The shifter didn't move back, it was more of the shift throw was extended and the hole had to be cut way out. Unless something else was done to your rig, if you have a 3" body lift, and your shifter is not hitting and causing problems, your floor has been cut out. I think there is some type of short throw kit that you can get and this may change that a bit, but other than that, the hole is not big enough for the throw (distance the shift rod moves) 3" higher up on the lever. Also mine was made even worse due to a 1.5" transfer case drop kit. So imagine how far the shifter moved 4.5" higher up on the handle than the stock position.

I am pretty sure as a rule, 1.25" is the highest you can go on a body lift before you start having shift problems, usually any way.

OK, so much has been done over the past few weeks. Replacedall break lines from rear to master cylinder. Replaced master cylinder, rebuilt rear breaks wheel cylinders, shoes. Replaced rear main seal, dang thing started leaking at jeeptoberfest. Fuel filter and lines, pcv valve, speakers, and green interrior led lighting. Still waiting on my seat covers, but expect them any day now. still have a few little issues here and there, but all is going very good!

Man that jeep is sick. Makes my ol' red look a little small. It takes all the time, money, and skill iv'e got just to keep her running. Really good job though.

Seat covers fineally made it in. These things turned out great. Time will tell about their durability, but they seem to be pretty tough.

Man, lots have happened since I last posted here. Lets see. Locked up the front end. Ordered and am currently waiting for my 8.8 rear to arrive from East Coast Gear Supply, Installed new Rough Country suspention lift, and bump stops. And have done some wheeling.... Still Loving my rig!

OK, Update time. Since my last post I have done a few things. 8.8 arrived from East Coast Gear Supply, and I couldn't be happier. Also fabbed and installed some sway bar disconnects that turned out pretty good. SO here are some pics.

Here are the Disconnects I fabbed up while still raw.


Here they are painted and installed.


My much awaited Rear end made it in.



So after we got it all bolted in it was time to see how much flex we had...







And of course, this aided in finding a weak spot in the suspention.... OOPS!


So after a short and I mean short wait from Moris 4x4, all was well again. Here is the most recent pic of my ole girl after a good bath after a day of wheeling in Ocala.

Looks awesome Ray. Are you one of those guys who likes or hates tint? just my opinion but I think a little tint on the hard top would look amazing!

Yes, it was absolutely bolt in. It dropped off the Fed Ex truck around lunch, I got off work around 6 and started working on it around 7 or 7:30 and was rollin by midnight. Went in really nice.

Only had one little hickup with it, the U bolts they sent were for something else, Two of them were the correct ones and two were square. They sent out the correct ones right away with no questions and got them to me fast.

Some advise when you order that you can take or leave.
1. have them put in the new e break shoes, they really are a pain in the but to do with the axle installed. Worth the 45 bucks they want.

I didn't get the new breaks with mine, and when I got them, I did wind up replacing the pads, but the calipers and rotors were fine. Used, but fine. So that is up to you if you pay the extra $$ to have all new breaks.

2. Be sure to have them sent you the instructions on how to adjust the E breaks. It is stupid simple once you see how to do it, but untill I asked, I couldn't get them adjusted correctly. Once I got the instructions, took about 5 minutes.

3. Especially if you have the SYE installed with the expensive CV shaft, pay attention here. I had them install the regular yoke for an extra $50. rather than the bolt on flange that comes on the 8.8. this is supposed to save about 1/2 of an inch in lenght over using the flange and adapter combination. I did this because I didn't have a bunch of room for my CV shaft to colaps. The spring pads do come with the three holes so you can set the entire rear end back if you need to get a bit more room. Good thing, because when mine came in, even with the yoke installed, I was going to have to cut and shorten my drive shaft if I couldn't set that thing back that extra hole. So I wold say err on the side of caution and pay the 50 bucks for the yoke. Just in case.

Other than that, just be sure to order what you want. I could have built the same rear end myself for about 250 less than what I paid, but it would have been soo much more work, and I wouldn't have the 2 year warranty. So, I would say, if you don't know how to set up a rear end, and are not a good welder, which I am neither, get that thing. If you know how to set up gears, and are a good welder, then you can build your own quite a bit cheeper, if you don't mind the time.

I got mine with the Youkon Grizzley locker and love it. Is quite a bit quieter than a lunchbox type auto locker, but yet quite a bit less expensive than a selectable. If I drove in snow or ice ever, I woul have went with the selectable, but since we don't get any of that usually here if Florida, the auto locker works great.

Botom line, they built me a good rear end, for not a bad price, and great customer support.

Ok. So have been a bit busy lately, but time to catch up on a few things....

Got my zombie permit in the other day.

Installed so I am all legal and stuff...



And of course, what zombie killer don't need Kabar "Zombie Eddition".



But on to important things... Like new front bumper..



After Bull Rings Installed..



And D Rings.


And of course matching rear...





Ran out of time before I could cap the ends off and bed liner them. But before that, Thinking of adding an air coupling to pump them up for some spare air. Made them out of 3/16th steel, so they should hold a good bit of pressure, just not sure if there would be enough volume to fill a 35" tire.... This is where I would love some expert opinions.....

OK, so today, installed my Zombie Wrangler decal, capped off my new bumpers, and added some bull noses to the rear bumper so I can pull from D Rings rather than the hitch.... (Did some yanking on the hitch this past weekend, and it didn't work out too good. Kind of bent up the rear frame cap. So we bent it back, welded up a bit of support. Should be much stronger now...





And the aftermath from the weekend in the woods.... grin!

Wow must say nice jeep looks really good love the color what is it ? And I am in fact wanting to make a set of matching bumpers for mine like the one you made as I was reading I saw where you said you had to re enforce the bumpers what did you do for that do you have picture ? And did u just weld it to the front ? Please any help

Yea, I welded the front strait to the frame. As for the rear, Initially, I just bolted it to the rear frame cap where the factory hoops bolted. (4 bolts each side) the problem I learned with that is the bolt holes are more to the top of that frame piece. So when I pulled on someone with the hitch which is extended down from the botom of the bumper, it created some leverage which allowed the actual frame cap to bend up. SO to fix this, I straitened the frame end, and rather than just using bolts to hold the bumper on, I welded from top to botom on both sides of the mounting brackets and across the top. I also added an additional bracket to the center of the bumper that I also welded to the center of the frame end.

So if I manage to bend it now, I will have bent the entire frame end rather than just bulge out the bolt holes. If for some crazy reason this happens, I will pull the bumper back off, and get me a nice rigid piece of chanel and make a new frame end cap for it and just get rid of the factory one. But I think the problem is licked at this point. Which is why I added the bull noses to pull from the center of the bumper rather than pulling up from the botom creating leverage. Pulling strait out will be much more solid I am sure. I will take a few close ups tonight and post them up.

As far as the color, I used Valspar single stage paint from Car Quest. I don't remember the exact name, but if you swing by there and look at their Valspar chip book, you will see it.

Zombie Green

so I noticed that the new models I have seen these past few months there is a green that is similar....that sucks I would think...not quite one of a kind anymore....although yours does look much better than the stock ones.

Yea, when I was looking through the chip book at the paint supply place, I found that color, and thought to myself, who in their right mind would paint their jeep that color. I knew we could pull it off, so I went for it figuring it would be a one of a kind.

A few weeks after I painted it, I was with my wife at the Toyota dealership in a near by town, which is located immediately across teh street from a Jeep dealer. As we pulled in, she told me to look over there, this is when I saw the Gecko Jeep for the first time. Oh well, guess there are more knuckle heads in the world than I figured...lol All is good, I have not seen another YJ that color, but there is one in here that is similar also... Oh well, all is good.

HEI distributor from White Preformance Installed today. Dang thing went in in just a few minutes, and what a difference. I can't wait to see how my fuel milage reacts, but I already know how much better the thing runs. Night and day difference. Now I can clear up some of the mess of wires under the hood.

Also got in my new balanced front drive shaft from Adams Driveshaft. If you need an long travel drive shaft, these are the guys to call. Super fast, super friendly, and very cost effective. Thing turned out great.
