Frame all repaired, wow they did a good job. They replaced the rotted out skid with one in good shape from a salvage yard. Got the entry guards on, 4.0 sticker in the rear, steering stabilizer, blue dash LEDs, a couple front brake lines, air filter, spark plugs, and got a new tranny mount and torque arm coming in because mine was no good from when skid plate dropped. It also broke the rear yoke and u joint going into diff so got a brand new yoke coming in tomorrow and then gonna go to napa and get a ujoint. Anyone know what number ujoint it is. The one that connects rear driveshaft to the yoke in the rear differential? Gonna seafoam and change oil and filter this weekend. And order some 1 inch boomerang shackles for rear and 1.25 for the front. Gonna get some pics up later of the repair, and other small things. I need yalls advice on a wheel and tire package. Where to get them. I want them to stick out more than the ones I have on now, is that called backspacing? Or offset? Im thinking 33's is what I wanna go with.

How much lift do you already have, 4"? Not sure I would lift it more with shackles. JMHO.

Nice looking project -- what kind of place did the frame repair? I might need something similar. Just a regular auto mechanic? Body shop?

Thanks! Yeah tomorrow is the day, I'll see how it is with the new yoke and joint. I'm battling a stripped bleeder screw, until I get that sorted out It won't be leaving the garage.

Yesterday was a long day, new tranny mount and torque arm, installed new pinion yoke and ujoint, had to remove stripped rusted intermediate pipe bolts and replace, weld some pipe after cat to fit into muffler( it was all rusted), welded the exhaust hanger back to pipe( came undone when crossmember dropped out), welded new piece for drivers seat bracket( was broke since I bought it), replaced all old bolts with new, new bleeder screws except the right rear was all stripped so I called it a night. Today I worked so tomorrow I'll be bleeding brakes after I get out the screw and then take er for a spin. Seafoam, oil change and rug install is instore for the weekend...

I may have spoken too soon. It depends on tire size more than anything. Shackle lifts that are too long are scary. If you are running 31's, 32's, or even 33's, I think 4" of lift is plenty. JMO

I have 31's now and yes the 4 inch is plenty, almost too much in my opinion. But im Gonna be running 33's. I thought 1 inch of a boom shackle lift would be fine but when it gets up to 2 or more that's when it gets scary... Idk, never drove in one with a shackle lift, maybe some others will chime in so I'll be safe driving

I really don't know what a boom shackle is compared to a stock shackle. I do have greaseable shackles that are about a 3/4 inch lift. But I also just have a 2.5 to 3 inch suspension lift. I just see alot of Jeeps that have way too much lift (IMO) for the tire size. I think they look best with just enough clearance for whatever tire you are running.

Boomerang shackle. They have straight and boomerang shackles. I'm concerned with geometrical or suspension issues with running a 1 inch shackle lift. A's far as I know I thought a 1 inch was fine to run. If anyone knows if there would be issues maybe they can comment.

Looks great! Keep posting pic.'s!!

On a personal note, I also have a '93, I would also like to hear about things that you try and dislike so we can learn from both your successes and mistakes!

Love the color by the way!

Thanks Bart113000! Well my computer is down so I haven't been able to post pics lately. But today I got brakes bleed, but raining all day so not able to drive it today. Things I haven't liked is that wheel clearance from top of tire to bottom of fender is 8 in front and 10 in rear. Kinda annoying. Will probably go with a bigger shackle lift in front to even it out. Overall, working on these jeeps is real easy so hopefully many will see this and not be afraid to tackle jobs on their own. Everything is right in front of you, and if you have a rust free southern jeep, you don't even realize how lucky you are!

Well, Carralo, you schooled me on boom shackles! I have a set on my Jeep, just didn't realize that was what they were, or I just had a brain fart. Mine are just 3/4" lift. I got them because they were greaseable.

i have a 4inch rc lift with 1inch lift shackles and 31s, the shackles give it alitte more lean it seems like but not enough to worry about it, it still does fine in highwinds on the highway at 65 lol

Ok so finally able to upload some pics. Took out jeep today and wow, like a whole new jeep. All the work done in the last couple days was well worth it. Even broke er in by going offside through some local powerlines!

Here's the 32 inch section they replaced

Where are the track bars? Why does this improve the ride?

There are track bars in the front and rear. One end is attached to the frame and the other end is attached to the axle on the opposite side. They limit the flex of the springs on a leaf spring Jeep. Some remove them and some don't. I have had mine off for 6 months. Made a big difference in the ride. Do a search on the forum on track bars. There is a ton of info about them.

150 bucks later, grabbed me a cb radio, gallon of bed coating, oil for engine tranny and both diffs.
My question is do I need any additive for the diffs? And as far as the cb goes, I'm pretty clueless. Im assuming I need an antenna, and a cable to run to it along with some sort of mount for antenna. What do you guys recommend?

yea sandblasting and lots of grinding. Been awhile so i guess its time to update...
Bedlined interior, came out good, coulda got a better product though. got some diamond late rocker guards to put in, replaced the clutch master cuz mine was bad but im still getting a clunk when cruising in gear with foot on acclerator and as soon as i let off i get the clunk. If i slowly and smoothly let off then theres no clunk. get a grinding noise sometimes shifting through the gears too... 1st is still tough to get into at times and going into second feels a bit strange(seems a longer throw than when i first got the jeep). Any ideas on these issues? took it out for some serious offroading this past weekend in freetown state forest near fall river mass and that was an absolute blast! ill try and get up some pics of that. And today i spent working on making some winshield bracket light mounts. The real pain of that was that i stripped the 2 torx bolts on the front/hood side of drivers side mount and so i had to break out the drill to find that theres this flimsy piece of metal that is like glued or something inside the windhsield frame itself... what a pain that was. Had to weld 5/16 nuts to washers and then weld the new nut/washer to the windhsield frame behind the hinge. But the mounts are coming out good so far. Any suggestions the lights? Dont want to spend a bunch on them but want them to be bright enough and last for a few years atleast. I think i can get some 6" round ones from walmart for like 30 bucks. Anyone use those? Or any other suggestions
