Yj wrangler gear box leaking oil

I have a 1990 yj with 4in lift on it and I do a lot of off roading with mainly on sand and deep water and mud. Went Saturday through mud up to headlights and sand later and came back later and gear box was pissing oil out. Do they have a gasket in there that might of broke. Or I need a new one?

first I'd clean it up really good. Then spray it down with brake clean or something. After that, let it dry and trace the leak back. Could be something simple, unless you actually cracked the transfer case housing it should very well be repairable...

There is also a seal at the rear of the case where the yoke goes in. (Yoke is the piece the shaft connects to w/u-joints). When sand gets all over the yoke, it can trash the seal in a really quick hurry. If its pissin' out the back of the case there at the yoke, the seal is only a few bucks and not to hard to change.
