understood, man i love cjs, i just never had good luck with em.... i wouldlike to have a decent 304 powered 5 but they are hard to find, a buddy of mine just scrapped his b/c he had no where to store it...that lil hunk of metal went everywhere the big boys do....just with a lil more force

Hey looks like a fun project your working on! I've always loved the vintage looks of CJ's. What kind of transmissions do these things have? I was guessing a 3 speed mabee. Thanks for all the great pics and keep them coming! I'm looking forward to seeing this project continue...

I guess I never went back and updated the thread.

I sold off the rest of the CJ5 (frame was all that was left) when we moved from central Texas to the Houston area back in 2008.

I have been back in a TJ for a few years now. You can see my build thread here:

I do regret selling off the CJ5. Back then, our son was an infant, we had limited 'toy' money, I had the CJ and I had a TJ. It just didn't make sense to keep the CJ between lack of time and money.

I am happy to say that the time and money obstacles are MUCH better situations, and eventhough I have a TJ as my "toy", I would love to have the CJ to build up.
