Please Meet Olive

We added Olive to our family on Dec 30. She started out as a Black Willys Wheeler was was lifted, de-badged and given a new paint color by the previous owner.

OD green is available, not sure about the "no markings" though. I'll look at mine later and see how they're applied.

Limited Edition Colors – Factor 55

Is Olive painted matte green? A little hard to tell in the pics but it looks that way and I really like it!

I wanted add Molle sun visor to Olive but did not want to pay $40. Instead I am using Army Special Forces Drop Leg Panel Assembly 8415-00-NSH-0615-5KH. I am not sure what I will do with the straps yet. Fold them into the pouch or cut them off. $15 on Ebay NOS. What do you guys and gals think?

I like the idea of straps and pouches but the camo makes the interior look too chaotic. Something like that in black might look better. But it's your Jeep go with what you like! We aren't going to be driving it.

I definitely want some molle in black in mine soon. I'm a huge fan of being able to stick things all over 'just in case', but yeah I want it to blend in for the most part. That way when gear isn't loaded in for a trip, and I'm just headed into work or the city for dinner, it doesn't glare out at everyone.

Looks great! They could have saved themselves some coin and just got the Commando production color in 2013.

Looks great! Do you wax it?
I remember, when we started getting subdued vehicles in the military, happily thinking we wouldn't have to wax them any more. Wrong. But we also thought we wouldn't have to iron our uniforms any more when we switched from fatigues to BDUs. Wrong again .

Very nice job with the new look... I believe you give us jeep nuts <and us Vets> an example of what we wished could be our ride back when government issue was just a crude all terrain tractor like thing to move men and equipment having various weapons platforms.

I swore when I got back home I would create my personal Jeep/Camping rig for comfort entertainment and hauling capability as a young Nam vet handy with welding skills built a really cool camping gear trailer to augment my 1980 CJ-5 Larado at the time...

I think back to those times and all I mostly recall were the best by far.

Top up or down, windshield folded down, wearing surplus goggles

What outfit were you in? Except for the cars for the officers and dignitaries nothing got waxed, the OD Paint, the Camo paint, and sand paint, was porous and rough and could not be waxed and there were even regulations against waxing as it could not be wiped off . I spent 6 years in the motor pool and then after getting my commission I spent another 18 in the transportation corp. As for BDU's there was a regulation on them too they were supposed to be just washed and dried nothing else as it would affect the inferred capabilities of them.

Welcome home Brother. I have a young Vet that lives near me that was over in the first Gulf war and he has a 1967 MUTT made by Ford that he got from his dad who was was a Korean and Nam vet and every time I see him out in It or I stop to see him I start thinking of all the fun I used to have as a young soldier driving them. On week ends when I was at FT Knox KY. and also at FT.Erwin Ca.we would get together and go 4 wheeling on the pretense of drivers training.

Olive is a good looking Jeep, I'm not sure of your plans for her, but if you decide to go with a military scheme some mounted black out lights would make a nice addition along with a jerry can on the back

20 years in munitions (all over the world) and we waxed everything (unless we were deployed, then they didn't care if we waxed or ironed ) and the order came from motor pool. They even put a spot on the vehicle forms to annotate the monthly waxing. I figured it was some bored upper echelon type needing another bullet statement on their OPR.
I remember the BDU reg, but "management" seemed to think creases looked better during 35-10 inspections (maybe for those desk jockeys?) Probably out of boredom for the guys that never deployed. But to be honest, I never noticed a difference when looking at BDUs through NVGs, with or without IR illum, so I don't know if it mattered.
They also told us P-tabs were good for us, and depleted uranium was safe as long they gave it a waiver, so....
Sorry to hijack the thread! Back on topic, a blackout light (or even IR) would look good on olive, and I'm not saying that just 'cus I have them on my JKU.

Blackout driving light on fender, IRs on bumper (same lights as the mil surplus windshield lights, just with IR lenses instead of clear, and easily swapped). Soft 8 wheels should be here this week (will be painted Mojave Sand)

Savegre wheels look nice. I would look to swap out the current lugs for a black set.
