Has anyone seen this rugged ridge vented hood in person? From the pics I really like it. I like the AEV hoods, but it seems those are becoming pretty common. I like the look of it and the fact that I have never seen a Jeep with it in person. What do you all think? Here is a picture of one... if I had photoshop skills I would have made this jeep granite crystal.

I haven't seen this one in person, SP, but originally I planned to add the AEV hood to my package there. There was a decent amount of feedback however that the vents allowed a lot of water into the engine compartment and air intake. I really like the look of the hood, but didn't want any engine compartment issues because of it and in Northern CA heat isn't a significant issue typically. I like the Rugged Ridge one you showed, but I would also wonder about how much water it allows in. I know the engine compartment is considered a "wet" space, but why push it right?

And the update from AEV today is that the carrier has fixed his rig, has left Wyoming and is somewhere in Nevada. He plans to deliver my Jeep tomorrow. I am taking that with a grain of salt, but who knows???

Awesome man! Hope it gets to you tomorrow!

Those are some great questions about the hood and I also am curious how much water gets in thru those vents. I will have to do some more investigating on that...

Here's to you being a happy man tomorrow

So that's how I can tow the ATV without having.to remove the spare! I got jammed up having to help a buddy plow out of his driveway removing the spare in 10 inches of snow about a month back. Where did you get that hitch extender? I have had the spare off for a month lol.

I get compliments on the color every day... I am so glad I decided to get it over the Silver one.
The new tires and wheels.

Funny you say that about getting the Granite over the Silver. I originally had my mind set on Silver and at the last minute ordered Granite only to call my dealer back 2 days later telling him that I wanted to change back to Silver. My dealer was so cool that he just ordered one of each built exactly the way I wanted it. I am glad I ended up picking the Granite and like you, I get compliments all the time.

The wheels are not real beadlocks. They are Level 8 ZXs. I liked the pintlers but couldn't justify the cost of them and the Level 8 kinda' looks a tad bit like the pintlers so I took a chance on them. I paid $110/wheel so not a huge investment. I am happy with the look.

I guess you are still waiting. Someone ought to make it right for you. Keep us posted as we're all anxious for you.

You need to watch. Most of those hitch extenders can't be used to tow with because they create too much leverage and will bend things. They are designed for moving bike racks and things back away from the spare are are typically rated for like 150lbs. A quad on a trailer would probably exceed that.

That being said, I know the truck camper guys have found or welded up some pretty beefy extenders so they can tow boats and stuff behind their trucks even though the back of the truck camper sticks 2ft past the bumper. I think they may tie into the truck camper though for strength.

Hello all, I've been following this thread for a while. I have been in the market for a new JKU and I was torn between GCM and black. Well I saw the granite in person and I was sold. Picked it up today:

I can vouch for the "it looks completely different in person" sentiment. This pic is an example. While taking this pic it looked dark grey, in the picture it has brown hues.

Congrats, AA! Looks awesome and I'm glad to share such great GCM company! Briefly saw my Jeep tonight at 7:30 pm, covered in sand after three weeks on a truck but it made it! Picking up Sat and will check the glovebox, thanks again! Enjoy your new ride!

Thanks guys for all the thoughts today. Finally got the call from my dealer 7 pm. I was literally driving by so I briefly stopped in. It's absolutely filthy, but seems intact! Picking up first thing Sat. Dealer asked if I could let it fall into March to help his numbers. At this point I know it's safe and it's here, so what's one more day? . Ordered Nov 1, delivery March 1. Yikes, this has been a long wait and you guys seriously pulled me through, thanks!
