It can be done and here are the results. I haven't measured yet, but it looks fairly level as is. I believe they are 17 springs up front and 58 in the back.

It rubs quite a bit when turning. So, you would have to trim or remove the front air dam. Alternatively, you could go with an aftermarket bumper.

I'll be rocking this until I have piggy for a proper lift.

Tires - nitro trail grappler 315/70/17

Wheels - MB72 matte black

I think they measure out to about a 33.4" tire using an online tire calculator. You should be OK with that size. You also will have rubbing issues without a lift.

Check local Craigslist and eBay for Sahara flares. They rarely come up for sale in the classified forum.

I'm personally a fan of lower jeeps, compared to all the people with jacked up jeeps. Now, I'm not advocating 35" tires with NO lift on a JK just because you won't last long until the rubbing makes you lose your mind or one of the flares will rip off. If you want to run 35"s with no lift, throw on Bushwackers. It not only won't rub on road, but it will only slightly rub off road, and will look much better and not so squatted. Add a simple 130$ leveling kit to that, and you are perfectly level, good clearance between the flares, and more than 95% of people will think it is on a true lift and you will never deal with rubbing again, nor will you deal with having to fork over 1k+ for a good lift.

Although I'm currently running my stock tires, I'm on a leveling kit and Bushwackers, getting ready for my 35"s and there's plenty of room. Love the look. I can post pics if you are interested.

I used heavy duty OME front coils to handle the weight of the winch and bumper, so I sit about 1.75" up front, and 1" coil spacer in the rear. Sits about level. Plenty of room for 35"s. Here's a crappy pic:

35" trail grapplers, no rubbing with the front bumper but would hit the fender on any small bump. Only had it lke this for a couple days in preparation for my lift.

This is pre-lift with Rubi rails removed and front airdam removed. No rubbing on the road at all.

definitely room for some 35s and will look sweet in those wheel wells.

your tires seem to fill the wheel well a lot more on your rig. I wonder if it is the angle? do you have any after the lift for comparo?

Just wondering ? I've got 09 jku. With 35 on stock jku is the finders the only place they rub??

I want to get my tires first. Before lift. So I'm wondering if I can get by with 35 without ruining them, I like off roading it.

I wouldn't recommend offroading with this setup. Youll tear off a fender. You need more flex and will need at least 2 in lift if not more. You may be able to get by with some flatties, but I'm not sure on that.

Wow, so my plan was 2.5" TF lift and 35's or metric equivilent. In the future some bushwacker flats or Rugged Ridge flats. That's gonna make those 35's look small ain't it?

I'm personally not a fan of the budget lift. Had one on my Titan and couldn't keep it quiet.. Maybe they are better on our JK's? The OME stiffer springs sound interesting though..

SOOO MANY WAYS TO GO!!

It depends what kind of look your going for I want my tires to fill the well and yet have enough room to flex when need be. I'll likely he going with a 2.5 AEV lift, but will keep OEM fenders. Check out NFRS2000'S build thread for the AEV 2.5 lift with 35s.

Yeah, I've seen pics and videos of Jks with 2.5" lifts burying 35"s in their fenders. Not sure I'll ever wheel in an area that will need more than that.

so how long have you been riding on your current setup of 35 inch tires and 17in wheels on the stock ride height?

while getting a lift is good for some, its not feasible for all.... i wouldn't mind getting one, yet i like to keep mine garaged and if i were to do a 2.5 inch lift, i doubt my jeep would fit any longer in my garage.

I've been on the current setup for about 400 miles. No complaints about ride quality, also nothing to brag about either. I'm content with how it has been.

35 1250 17 nitto trail grappler, ballistic jester wheels, 2" spacer lift and Rubicon jku Springs. This will get me through till I have coin for the lift I want. (metal cloak game changer)

Nice rig. What numbers were on the "rubicon" springs?
