The front takes a bit more time. It sounds a bit intimidating to say you are going to drop your axles but with a good floor jack, jack stands, some elbow grease (or a good compressor), the proper size tools it's not bad. I think mine took 3 hours and that included a run to the store for a socket. I would say I'm moderately mechanically inclined, not a pro by any means. Watch the video on YouTube or the TF site. Really helped to see them do it.

I also was curious, are you guys just junking your TPMS'? And then Procal'ng to zero? It looks like the TPMS will run me about 100$ and some change and if I dont NEED the TPMS then I may get a procal instead.. Thoughts? I check my tires regularly since my other car (acura TL aspec has 245.35.19's on it) and needs constant pressure checks. And then a level kit I would need as well? I dont plan to go flexing or climbing rocks, I do like to play in the snow and mud sometimes though
After a number of debates on here, I agreed, threw in the towel and junked my tpms. Just another useless trinket to go wrong, serves no function if you maintain your vehicle properly, adds an expense, etc. I never replaced mine with a new set, set the procal to 0 and called it a day. Glad I did it.

2.5" BB are one of the most common kits. Perfect for getting a little more clearance without spending a ton.

Thats great to know about the TPMS... I was thinking it isnt worth the 125$ the dealer wants to swap them over into the new rims once I get them... and i am very good at checking my tire pressure.

DiscountTire... what is the aprox cost for the 2.5 bb? I was told to steer away from RockCrawler (there is a local shop that quoted me 450$ to install them with shocks) So how are the TeraFlex BB?

Thanks so much!

A good kit will include extensions to use the factory shocks.

FYI, these kits do not level your jeep. If you want a kit that will lift and level your JK you will want one of Teraflex's 2.5" lift kits that included new coils.

If this is Teraflex part # 1355200 you'll want to order shocks separately. If you want to use your stock shocks you'll want part # 135521.

Great thread

Okay - I have a 2012 JK black 2 door and this is the exact set-up that I want. I am planning on buying the 5 tires. Right now, I have the wimpy 16" rims with the 225 GY tires on them. A few questions:

1.) OP had Daystar 3/4" spacers on him - will those be all that I need to avoid rubbing etc?
2.) For wheels, would getting the 15" but instead of the 8 holes, a 5 spoke set up look weird?
3.) For MPG, is it the light weight that makes it good?
4.) I have 3.73 gears - do i need to re-gear or am I okay running the same gears?
5.) I guess this would make question 2 irrevelant, but if i kept stock wheels, would this cause me to lose MPG?

This is the first set up i've been VERY gung-ho about. Looks amazing.

1. If you want to run a 33" tire, a 1.5-2.5" lift/leveling kit is ideal. 3/4" may give you enough clearance for them but this may depend on your jeeps model. 3/4" on an X or Sport model may not be quite enough lift to be rub free.

2. Looks are personal preference. I think 5 spoke wheels look great on wranglers but ultimately its up to you and what you like. The Black Rhino Viper could be a good 15" 5 spoke option for you.

3. MPG's are always better with less weight.

4. You shouldn't need to regrear with 33" tires.

5. With stock wheels and larger tires, yes, this will reduce your MPG's. I couldn't tell you by how much.

We don't install lift kits or leveling kits. If you need an installer recommendation you may want to try posting your question in your regional forum on this site or try contacting Teraflex for their list of recommended installers in your area.

Their 2.5" Budget boost lifts do not level your jeep. If you want your jeep to be leveled and have 2.5" of lift you'll want to install one of Teraflex's 2.5" lift kits. These come with new coil springs and will lift and level your jeep. Let us know if your JK is 2 or 4 Dr and we will help you with a part number.

You could install your bumper before or after your lift, that shouldn't matter much. However, If your bumper weighs a good amount you might want to install a lift that also levels your jeep. This will help keep your front end from being pushed down too far due to the added weight.

I just ordered the combo from my local Discount Tire. I won't have my jeep for another 3-6 weeks, but labor day promotions are going on so I decided to jump on it.

$100 rebate for MB 72s
$100 rebate on Duratracs
$100 rebate for Tread Lightly GY tires (I hope this offer combines)
$50 for mentioning Wrangler forum. I wasn't expecting to pull this one off in the local store but they were cool with it!

I'm not sure if the TL mail-in rebate is applicable (no affiliation) but your purchase through us also qualifies for the Goodyear $60.00 mail-in rebate for purchasing 4 new DuraTrac tires.

We appreciate your support TXSasquatch!

My pleasure. DT is the best!

I asked about the $60.00 Goodyear rebate and the guys in my store told me that the current $100 4 tire/wheel rebate going on this weekend doesn't combine with that offer. If the guys in my store are wrong, would you possibly direct me to someone I can contact about this please? Thanks!

The $60.00 mail-in rebate is absolutely applicable as it's a rebate sponsored by Goodyear. I would contact the store manager you made the purchase from so they can add the promotion code to your invoice. Please note however that this Goodyear $60.00 mail-in rebate may not be combine-able with the TL rebate. It's likely that it's one or the other.

Thanks for the info. I just did a little search for Goodyear rebate info and found their rebate FAQ which says "Customers are eligible for one (1) rebate per qualifying purchase."

I'm going to submit the DT rebates & TL rebate and just be happy with that! Thanks again.
