The 15x8 MB72 weighs 19lbs and the 15x8 Tracker weighs 20lbs.

There is no difference in quality between these two models.

I've been reading this thread for weeks, and pricing options on DTD. I keep going back and forth, but I think I want to go with 15" TKOs and a 33" tire. Two things are holding me back.

#1. How widespread is the balancing /out of round issue with the duratracs? I love the look, and the comments on how good they are in the snow.

#2. Due to the balancing issues, what is a good alternative? I'd love to go with a cooper tire. Possibly the STT or STT Tek or the ST Maxx. But I haven't seen anyone using these or found reviews talking about how long they last o their traction.

#3. I really love the 17" rugged ridge wheels, and while I'd love to just get them, get 17' duratracs and have them mounted somewhere, the price gets outta my means.

Well, it looks like it's going to be the Goodyears and the MB72's for me when the time comes. That seems like a great combination.

Not 15" Soft 8s, unless the user either added a spacer or shaved the brake calipers. 16" Soft 8s should fit no problem.

If you want the Duratrac I say go for them. They are a great tire and if you have any issues with balancing them let us know and we'll help you with it. There are many, many people running this set up without any issues.

I got my Duratracs from a local dealer who also sold life time balancing/ rotation and road hazard. 33"x 12.50" they also sold me the last set of BFGs that I still have in the garage on factory rims.
They know that they rotate my tires when I change my oil. It happened that tires were installed at Mid mileage so they got "rotated/ balanced" "early".

Bottom line the tires were balanced when I got them no issues after about 1800 miles and a couple 3 trips off road they did not have any trouble "checking" the balance when they rotated them. The original balance was still good...and I really like my Duratracs.....

I have an opportunity to buy some used (about 2k on them) I realize that they will not be covered by warrenty but should I have any issues and need service, will it be very expensive for me to go to my mechanic with these for balancing or is that a standard fee? In other words does it cost more to balance these tires than it would a stock tire?

That being said I would rather spend a couple hundred more to get the warranties, are there any specials going on right now to get me down around $1200?

I'm also in to see what the best deal is. I see there's usually some rebates and I think threadlightly does a discount but I'm not part of that.

Ok, so with all the talk of what is the best deal, I though I would share some of my calculations I've done myself to try to determine the route I want to go. If you aren't currently a member, then signing up for treadlightly is well worth it.

We usually have some promotions around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Information about these promotions is usually released a day in advance or the day of.

We are not associated with Tread Lightly so you will want to follow up with them on this but I don't think TL is running their rebate on Goodyear Tires anymore. I would recommend contacting the rep that is on this site about it. I've seen some posts lately that has mentioned the rebate has ended.

speaking of, maybe DTD can give some insight. With there being a gift card associated with rim and tires if purchased on a DTD credit card, will it be a hassle to sign up for a card over the phone or on the internet day of? Or is there a way to sign up before hand?

If that's what you'd like, there are many wheels that will work. The MB72's are just one of several good choices.
