Looks great! Was it a big deal taking the top off? Does it seem it will seal up fine when you put it back on?

the doors were a pain, i just had to keep swinging them while lifting up on them and they finally came loose. as for the top , 8 torx head bolts, unplug the wiring harness and me and my 15 yr old son lifted it off and set it in the yard. and i know someone will ask so... its a T40 torx for the roof and a T50 torx to remove the doors. now were thinking of a fast back style soft top for the summer as we didnt get the dual top option.

davem, thanks for the info. If the weather ever settles in here, I think the top will come off. I was also looking for some type soft top for the summer. When you say, "fast back style soft top", have you seen anything like this?

BTW, nice wheels

You should look into getting the mirror relocation brackets or the ones the fit in your door hinges so you don't get pulled over.

its my understanding that in PA as long as you have a rear view mirror u donot need and outside mirror. i could be wrong tho. it sucks not having the outside mirrors tho. i wouldnt take them off the doors any how cause there callin for rain wed-fri so the top and doors are goin back on. i will probably leave the hard top on till we buy a soft top. dont want to chance cracking the fiberglass. the fast back top i was refering to follows the lines of the rollbar in the back and doesnt use any bows. origanaly had no mud flaps but after the first PA winter it was a necessity. we live on back roads that dont use salt just road ash. what a freakin mess.

I've ever even been in Pennsylvania, so I could be way off, but that sounds almost backward. Isn't it that you can skip the rearview if you have side mirrors?

But either way, the rearview mirror in a Wrangler with an oversized spare tire is about as practical as Ashley Simpson's microphone.

Oh, I forgot to do my marketing stuff:

Whitebomber, the Bestop Safari Top is the greatest thing ever invented!

Too much?

Yeah, it works fine. I was driving one of the company JK's the other day with the Mesh Safari. Not so good for summer rain storms, but really nice shade/openness mix.

Cheers!

no i believe i was correct for the mirror law in pa because my son is blind in his left eye and he has a endorsement on his license saying he must be driving a vehicle with an outside mirror in addition to the inside review mirror. the top i was refering to is a full top not a bikini top. just the rear portion follows the lines of the rear rollbar.

This seems to indicate one mirror is fine. Safe, now that's another question...

Page 273 in any officers PA Law of Vehicle Codes
Under Vehicle Characteristics §4534
"No person shall operate a motor vehicle or combination on a highway unless the vehicle or combination is equipped with at least one mirror, or similar device, which provides the driver an unobstructed view of the highway to the rear of the vehicle or combination. This section shall not apply to any special mobile equipment, commercial implement of husbandry or implement of husbandry that is not so equipped by the original manufacturer."

The Mopar mirror kit is really nice, installs in a few minutes, and is only ~$60- that's what I run- keep it legal, and still able to see. It comes with a new mirror, so no mirror swapping Mark W.

You're probably talking about our Trektop, or one made by Viking. But you should stay away from them. I heard they sacrifice a puppy for every top sold. Just kidding. Actually I've heard good things about their top. But you should still buy ours.

Massachusetts General Law:

Chapter 90: Section 7. Brakes, braking systems, mufflers, horns, lights, audible warning systems, and other equipment; compliance with safety standards; stickers and emblems

"Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with at least one mirror so placed and adjusted as to afford the operator a clear, reflected view of the highway to the rear and left side of the vehicle."

Looks like, we need the side mirror here to be street legal! Would have been nice with just the rearview mirror. Oh Well......!

Hey Amanda, you could have my summer. Its only 105 today. Pretty cool considering its not even August yet. Probably next chance of rain will be in the Winter.

Hey Amanda, very cool looking top. I've been considering one and have a question. As you mention you can roll back the top. Can you go all the way back to the tailgate, to uncover the entire back? Or only the roof portion over the passenger areas?

I was told - after much discussion with several PA troopers that you need one mirror, side or rearview, but it IS illegal to actually drive on the highways without doors. very early year jeeps, doors were an option; therefor you could go without, but since they are factory standard now, you must have them, like bumpers. You can put "modified" doors on, ie: rock (or safari) doors, soft doors, half doors, etc. but if a trooper wanted to be extremely picky, he can cite you for NO doors.

not to trash talk all troopers, but they don't always know what they are talking about. I was pulled over for not having fender flares here in Phx AZ. The officer thought my jeep would require mud flaps. I told him I'm pretty sure that applies only to pickup trucks and that Jeeps are the exception because technically, according to my registration, my jeep is classified as a stationwagon and mudflaps are not required on wagons. He must've been a rookie because he backed down and said he wasn't sure either. *basically he was just using that "no flare" thing as a reason to check to see if I had been drinking cuz it was late on a weekend near a bunch of bars.

Anyway, I have heard that PA is pretty strict when it comes to Jeeps. Confirm whatever you hear though just to be sure.

Oh yea, Nice Jeep DaveM!
