Goodbye Plastic, Fabric and Foam

Has anyone else been ripping all of the plastic, foam and fabric excess out of their JK? I wish there wasn't so much of it on this model...

Sadly, we found that the jeep didn't even get totally painted, at the back end where the roll bar was encased in fabric and foam, the bars are the green primer or whatever. WTF? I think a lot of things were skimped on with the JKs and it's rather disheartening!

I agree way too much fluff. I pulled everything out of my 07 Rubicon & Rhino-lined the interior. I will probably do the same to my daughters 07 X

Good for you! We took all the carpet out after the first winter and never put it back in. My YJ didn't have any when I got it, so there hasn't been much stuff to rip but I did remove the fabric from the bars. I don't care if they don't look "beefy" enough. I know some folks think they look too small without the added padding, but I like the metal! Ones of these days my YJ needs some attention and Rhino Lining or similar.

Nice rides, by the way!

Thanks a lot!!! I have had the Rubi since new & a few months ago my daughter turned 16 & requested one too. What could I do?!? Lol
Sad part is that she has been wheeling more than me this year. I am embarrassed.
I thought about pulling the padding off the roll bars but not sure how it would look. So you like it huh??

I like it, it does make them look "skinny" but so what, right? I ought to see if I have some current pics. Husband has the JK out today and the YJ is at the shop, so I can't shoot any really fast or anything. I wasn't sure how it would look either, and I couldn't remove all of it without destroying some of it so I took a gamble and did it and have had no regrets. If I had a torx wrench, I could have maybe taken the seatbelts off to slide the fabric off but I was impatient and used cut it with the pocket knife.

And might I add, what a lucky daughter! I got my first car when I was 17 - it was actually the car I grew up in. My parents gave me their '83 Oldsmobile, it was a BOAT!

haha, I thought I was the one that came up with that kidding, but I never heard anyone else refer to it that way, but it's rather obvious, no? I think the JK is pretty cool, but I really am partial to my YJ. My husband loves it though so that's good enough for me!

If you do get a chance I would love to see some pics of the naked roll bars. I understand being impatient with the JEEP I pulled the interior on a whim & spent an entire weekend prepping & spraying the liner cause I couldn't wait.

Yes she is a very lucky girl & hopefully she appreciates it. Fingers crossed.

Certainly I'll do what I can. I'm not sure when I'll get my YJ back; hopefully this week though

I can't take the padding off my YJ the PO had the jeep painted and didn't bother paining the roll bars so they are sahara silver/tan and the rest black. Would be way ghetto

RWW1104. I have recently purchased a 2010 4-Door Sahara and have been thinking about getting some sort of replacement flooring for the carpet it came with. How are you finding the Rhino spray on liner? And which Rhino product did you use? There are a few post on here about using bed liners to replace the carpet, but there are so many options for products that you can use.

Cheers,

the JK paint job is BAD, I have no idea about the quality or durability of the paint itself, but there are spots that are thinner then others. I mean, I dont care about something like that but for a brand new 2010 model... really Chrysler!
