Well I felt it was about that time that we get our own love fest thread for Hydro Blue :)

Currently only available on the Freedom Edition, but later to be available at least on the Polar Edition in Europe (and possibly the US) in the Spring of 2014

I've got mine on order and of course will post a ton of photos once I receive her :)

It's like Cosmos Blues slightly darker sister...

BEHOLD!

Hey, Paul! Thanks for starting this thread!

I ordered my FE yesterday, and now I am IMpatiently waiting for my VIN email! :pullinghair:

I already have my first mod in hand, and it didn't cost me a penny! I won a set of Rebel Off Road grab handles. :)

I don't particularly care for those types of grab handles for entering/exiting the jeep, for those I will order a set of Welcome Distributing GraBars. But the Rebel's will be nice for a place to rest your hand during normal driving.

Other things I'm thinking about:

Swap painted flares for black takeoffs
Swap wheels/tires with Mike
Lift
Rampage bumper
ACE silders
SpiderWebShade
Console cover (can't remember who makes it. $16 on amazon)

I can't wait! This will be the LONGEST six weeks in a LOOOONG time! :whacky:

I had originally considered the whole swapping painted fenders for OE takeoff's - but after seeing the pics of the Polar edition - it doesn't look that bad with painted fenders either so I'll bump that down my list.

I do like those GraBars - will probably consider a set myself - one of the first things for me will be to paint/plasti-dip the grille black instead of that grey color it comes in and to pull the star decals off the hood and quarter panel.

I've got a #2 pool ball shifter on order along with a 24" AntennaX replacement antenna (should be here next week)

Other plans include -

ACE Rock rails (their shop is about an hour from me)
Painting stock wheels black
Truck-lite LED headlights
Clear LED sidemarkers and turn signals
Maximus-3 Grille Guard

Eventually a 2.5-3" lift (probably BDS because I know one of the owners) and maybe 35's

to what are you referring to LENBO? the Jeep itself? the pictures I posted are of the Polar Edition due out next year - but the color it is painted is Hydro Blue Pearl and the only real world examples so far of the new color.

Jeep.com hasn't been updated so you can't build one online, you have to talk to a dealer.

Hey Paul, don't we get clear turn signals on ours? I know the side markers are still yellow, but I thought the fronts were clear...

Ahha! I missed the key word ...LED!

Sorry, guess this cold medicine is making me loopy. I'll try to stay on track. :)

Has anyone decided what accent colors they want to use on their new hydro jeep?

I'm thinking grey or silver or more black. Not a sports fan really, so I don't want a college or NFL themed jeep.

Gonna get a deal for the hood?

"Bruisicon"

:lmao:

Hey Paul,

Can you ask your roommate a question for me? On the spec sheet for the FE it says that it comes with silver accent trim on the vent rings, steering wheel front grab handle, etc. I'm trying to figure out if it is the same accent color as is on a Billet jeep. That way I've got some idea of at least what the interior colors will actually look like.

I posted the same question in the 2014 thread, but no one there ever commented. I guess maybe I wore out my welcome over there.

Thanks! I appreciate it!

He's just a salesman :p you'd be better off sending Archer or Pat a PM since they've seen it in person...but I'd guess the interior silver accents is the same stock color found in the other Wranglers....

I'll end up pulling my vent rings (and if I can the ones on the steering wheel) and painting them Hydro to match.

As for the hood...no I don't have any inside information on getting one - not even sure I want to add another $1000 to my price just to add the hood...not to mention the longer wait time to get my Jeep after the dealership gets it while it waits for the body shop to paint it etc...

And after having looked around - I'm guessing the wheels that the FE comes with are the standard 17" "Moab" wheels which is fine because I like those a lot better than the weird things most of them come with these days...

I was at the rally today in CT and there was one other jeep that looked my color ( I have cosmos) and its so rare I have only seen 2 others my color... But he said it wasn't cosmos. It looked identical. Maybe it was hydro....

It's so close in color why bother making a new one lol.

#32 ·
I think based upon photos that Hydro blue is a bit deeper blue than Cosmos - but being a pearl color, depending on the light can be close to Cosmos....

Cosmos Blue

Hydro Blue

I tried to find similar photos under similar lighting conditions to better represent (not easy to do with very limited Hydro Blue photos out there)

If I can ever find a Cosmos Blue in the wild after I get mine I'll be sure to park next to it and take comparison shots....

Side by side is the only way to tell. There was a crayon looking blue a while back that I didn't like at all. This one from the pics is nice, at least IMO.

I used to paint with my father before I joined the Navy. I have a good eye for color, but would never comment to a customer if I liked the color they picked for a room or the outside of their house. :puke:I saw some real gems too. In this case I will only comment on colors I like, and won't comment on any I don't like. LOL

Thanks, Paul! I appreciate it!

Not sure what I think about painting the accents hydro... I guess maybe if hydro turns out to be the same color as the blue SWS, then everything would match. But I think I am leaning towards silver/grey accents with a grey SWS.

Of course this will change at least 38465629 times before my jeep ever arrives! :lmao:

I didn't know you were thinking about changing the hood. That seems like one HELL of an upgrade! I think the louvers are kind of cool, but I'd be TERRIFIED of Mike chopping up my baby! Anyway, I've got enough ideas to keep me busy for now.

Those are the mineral grey sparkle wheels? They aren't bad, better than stockers, but I'm still looking forward to Mike's black 33s. :happyyes:

What is SWS? And yeah I wouldn't chop the hood, I would replace it with the X hood, or maybe the AEV vented hood...

Thanks Pat for chiming in on my humble post :)

And Starbrite, my plans are to remove or repaint any of the silver accents I can (grille, bumper inserts, wheels etc) and stick with just black/blue

Thanks, Pat!!! I appreciate it! :beerdrinking:

Now I know what I'm looking at. Mike's Billet has the silver interior accents. :happyyes:

I wonder if there will be a decent but cheap rattle can paint match, so it doesn't all have to be done with MOPAR. That could add up REAL quick!

No problem, just trying to help. Blue was on my Radar for years as i was shopping for my unlimited Rubicon.. the picture above I actually took the summer of 2010. I opted to wait till the motor/Tranny upgrade and ordered my 2012 cosmos in the fall of 2011.Think of hydro blue as a Mettalic Cosmos blue.. As if it were a silver base coat over a Cosmos clear... Either way its a bad ass color... I was at a Jeep show with over 200 jeeps, half of them JK's and I was the ONLY Cosmos

#49 ·
That makes perfect sense and why outside they looked identical. At the great American jeep rally yesterday with over 700 jeeps there were 2 cosmos/ hydro blue wranglers or jeeps of any model. Me and the new one I talked about.
