Thanks for all the replies guys and gals! You all are really helpful.

I've ran into one problem though. I'm taking what RaiderRUBICON said into consideration and am trying to see where I'll come out better at. Alright say I go for the '07 Wrangler X for $20k, and walk in with $15k in cash and tell em that's what I'll give for it. Say they take it and I get the '07. Now how much would it cost to put on side-steps and the Rubicon tire package after I buy it?
The other option is to get the new '10 Sport. Now if I go with this option then I'm getting pretty much the same vehicle as the '07 X, but If I pay in cash on the spot than the dealer may through in the Rubi tires and side-steps for free. Now a '10 Sport with the same options as the '07 X is going to run me about $24k.

Here's my problem. Which is going to be cheaper? The 2010 Jeep Wrangler Sport with the free side-steps and Rubicon tire package thrown in which is priced at about $24k, or the '07 Jeep Wrangler X which is priced at about $20k, although I'll try to get it for $15k, while buying side-steps and the Rubicon tire package afterwards? Any help is appreciated, as always.

Well seems to me that you are comparing two of the same vehicles. One brand new, one slightly used, but almost 10k in the difference in price(assuming you get the used vehicle for the price your asking). I would think that steps and a wheel package is not worth all that money. You could add your own body armor which will work as steps and be more useful off road, while finding rubicon wheels and tires for a good price(Say Craigslist or even some forums) for cheaper than 9k. Just my .02

The cash thing isn't much of an incentive to the dealer. If you finance through them they make money on the financing. If you finance outside they get paid in full. Either way they are getting cash.

Well if your going to put it that way, Take the new wrangler sport for 24. no doubt in my mind ,you would be better off.Wranglers take a beating, you don't know what that 07 went thru, take the new one for 24,you could buy the rubicon tires and rims later.I just don't like this 07 thing at all, the more I think about it.

I always buy new vehicles and I think that what RaiderRUBICON said is the main reason. A three year old vehicle and typically a jeep has had its prime time miles taken out of it. I have always been surprised about depreciation of vehicles. When I was a youngster I bought beaters. Nothing with less than 60,000 miles on it because I found that the asking price was usually somewhat reasonable. Once you start looking in the 10,000 to 30,000 miles range, the price difference from new just doesn't seem to justify not purchasing new.

I'll mainly be driving on the streets as the only time I get to go do fun stuff outdoors is when I'm not working on the weekends.
This is the exact reasons you should NOT buy the Rubicon...you want to save some money on the price and you plan on doing pretty much all street driving. It would seem to be a waste of money for you.

So I've decided that I'm going to try and buy a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sport/X, but If I cannot find one for a reasonable price after a long while I'll eventually settle on a new Sport. After I buy the Sport/X I'm going to put after market tires, probably some BFGoodrich Mud Terrains, add some nerf bars to the side, and add some different rims. (by different rims I mean like Sahara Alloy rims) All of those add-ons are thanks to Ludicrous, a fellow user who is new to the site like me that I talked to.

I have a question for those of you out there who have recently bought a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sport/X (whatever it's called), how much did you pay for your badass-mobile? Because I have a friend who bought an '07 last year for around $14k, which is reasonable for me, and if it's going to be too much then I'll probably just get the new Jeep instead. Thanks for any help ya got.

You know, as long as it feels right to you and you are happy with your purchase, then I say happy jeepin'. I hope you find a great buy that fits your requirements. Sounds like you are on your way and have fun while you are doing it. Make sure and test drive a lot. In my opinion, that was one of the parts about ownership that made my experience a fun one even before I took the plunge and plunked money down for one.
