Just traded in my 2005 Grand Cherokee for this brand new 2008 Wrangler Sahara with a 6 speed. Ive had it for a week now and I'm loving it. I cant believe how many compliments Ive received on it already. Everyone loves it. Before the Grand Cherokee I owned a 97 Wrangler and this one seems to have more room on the inside which is always a plus. Only bad thing so far is on day # 6 we had a bad rain storm and my freedom top leaked all over my shifter and console. I called the service dept and the first thing they asked was did I take the tops off? Well of course I did, so they said to reseat it. I did that and will see whats happens. Heres some pics of my new baby. Tell me what you think and what your opinion of your new jk is.
Looks like mine but the wrong color...
Very nice indeed. When you seat the targa-tops, jiggle/nestle them a bit before you clamp down. I also applied a film of good quality silicone goo to the seals to make them pliable. I've been through two rain storms and a pressure wash in my 9 days of ownership with no leaks.
Location: Under a sheet of ice, you know, from Global Warming!
They both look good! I have always liked the looks of the Sahara pkg! I wish they would quit trying to make it a separate model and offer it on the Rubicon. A Unlimited Rubicon Sahara in Flame Red would be just the ticket! Especially if they'd drop the 3.0 CRD from the Grand Cherokee in it.. hey, as long as I'm dreaming, right?
I have a question about the removable panels on the freedom top. My dealer told me that the 2 screw-in pieces can be removed for the summer and need to be replaced in the winter when your not taking the tops off anymore. I read through the manual and couldn't find anything on this. I'm wondering now if not having them in was the reason for my tops leaking. Any replys are greatly appreciated.
