New muffler photo

Dont pay any attention to the date. Does this muffler look right to you? Seems like its getting a lot of heat around the exhaust tip.

If the date is correct, that looks OK, if it's not--

Either, one of the final muffler seperators is partialaly blocked or the jeep has spent a lot of time driving thru water, putting flow restrictions, at the tip

It's time to get rid of the muffler !! Heh Heh

OK JIMBO, I'll bite, what do you run? Mine is 2 years old and not ready to fall off yet but it is getting that nasty grungy rust caked look to it and when it goes, I want to be ready with what to bolt up next!

I'm going to have to get a list started.

You too Clear Lake...have you bitten the muffler bullet yet?

I might get one of these some day...Considering the mufflers are in a vulnerable spot. The offroad series is made pretty heavy duty.

Find a nice small muffler and replace that big trash can. Cant be too much.

Which one is quite? Go with a left hand exit too.

I don't have to worry about salt/corrosion/humidity-so-

I've got the Flowmaster 40 cat-back (galvanized),with SS tips !!

I took this pic after the evap can skid install, but shows the Flowmaster 40 nestled right in front of the can

The two exhaust tips-

See, no muffler filling that spot !!

That looks pretty rugged. I wonder how it sounds. Next questions is how to determine which will bolt up to the existing system. I also saw a rugged ridge header. Does a header have any use on a jeep? I would imagine it improves the sound, probably performance too?

For a state emission legal JK 3.8L engine--

Headers are a waste of money-

You don't want to "FREE" up the exhaust , it's designed with a (%) of restriction and any more FLOW, will decrease the performance !!

Moving from an exhaust manifold to a tubular header gives you more of an improvement in power and sound than any plain catback system can give you.

JIMBOX! Nice setup love it. But does it sound like souped up lawn mower with 40 on there or does it have a nice rumble to it?

I went to a muffler shop today to have it checked. They said that this normal for a stainless steel muffler. They said not to worry about it. So maybe i will get a second advise on it.
