I installed Nfab's nerfs on my JKU and have been very happy with them. Not a heavy duty trail whore option, but great for light use and daily commuter purposes. I noticed Toyota installs them oem on their full-sized pickups sometimes. I have pics of my install in my build thread, at the bottom of my post below.
Smittybilt. I love these! I particularly like the flat steps. They make a great drink holder to set my drink on while I'm grabbing my keys and opening the door!
The install was easy. If i had it to do over it woukd go much faster, but i didnt know what i was doing so it took a few hours. Here's a better pic of the rails.
I have RedRock Rock 4x4 Sliders. They took about 30 minutes to install. They attached to both the underside of the body and the pinch seem. These are also more of sliders first and steps second. With the doors off I can rest my foot on the upper bar or use it to step on to access the roof or above the jeep just fine.
No issues with product quality. I would recommend these to anyone, Extreme Terrain also has a great product video on their site.
I went with more of a side step since I dont plan on hitting any rocks. Barricade makes a good wide step for being able to access the roof and it helps my dad get in (he has two new knees). The cut out along the side helps keep your pant leg clean when stepping out plus there is that added bonus of door protection from the idiots that park to close. I got them from extreme terrain.
I'm curious about what my options are also. I have got to do something that will also work as a step since no one else in the family can get in the Jeep anymore since I put on the lift.:nonono:
I struggled with this decision quite a bit. I really like the Poison Spyder Rocker Knockers. And those have the bonus that (for some colors) the painted inner panel looks very sharp. For darker colors, that's not really noticeable.
I ended up going with Evo Mfg Rocksliders, and I couldn't be happier. By the time I paid for welding, they were quite a bit more than some of the cheaper bolt-on options. I really like the welded-to-frame route, though, and these are so beefy I can't imagine ever worrying about pounding or pivoting on these.
It doesn't hurt that I happen to think they look great.
i went with the poison spyder ricochet rockers. they have the beefiest looking frame mounts that i have seen on a rock slider, and since i wanted protection and a step, these are what i got.
i painted them with herculiner bed liner, and the paint is showing no signs of wear and i step on them every day.
LoD Destroyer rock sliders. I wanted something with dedicated, functional steps mounted lower on the sliders that wasn’t the rounded edge of steel tubing (easy to slip off) or a protruding hoop (likely to catch on obstacles). The Destroyers have steps recessed into them that offer excellent function, a lower step up height, are sturdily mounted and can support the weight of the vehicle (they have have lifting points for a hi-lift jack). The only con is their cost.
You can see pics of my ACE Engineering sliders with Stock Rubi rails at the end of my build thread. Overall, I'm very impressed with them and have no issues with recommending them to anybody.
Body armor 4x4. Put em on today. Very heavy duty. I like em.
