Looking for pics with 2.5" lift and stock 32s on JKUs. Ideally if anyone is running 1.5" wheel spacers with MTs on a JKUR 10A/X/HR, that would be ideal to see, mostly interested in front/rear views but all pics are welcomed!

These are a couple from it's namesake only a few months after we took delivery. The lift is JKS 2" springs and Bilstein shocks. I'm about to FINALLY put adjustable track bars in (yes, 2 years later) to get the axles to locate correctly. I only did the lift to account for all the extra armor I added underneath and the winch on the front.

I never had any intention of putting bigger tires on the Jeep, and technically don't need to as we've been on it's namesake a couple times now with zero issues, and I've not any current intention of doing anything harder than that trail. In a year or so, we're going to go ahead and start to build the machine to be a bit more of a trail machine, so I may go to 37s, but that's far enough off that I just bought another set of stock tires.

These were just to give you what you asked for. If you'd like some more action oriented shots, let me know. We took a couple shots, dinged the doors, scuffed the wheels, and punched in all 4 corners of the bumpers, but much of that was b/c we had the doors in (I prefer the visibility of them not being there), my wife was just learning to spot, and we were in a hurry to get home as we were on a deadline to get to the baby who was too young to go with us the first time. The second time, we just ran out to Granite Slab sans doors and it was MUCH easier.

Bottom line, yes the 35"+ tires look REALLY cool, but really aren't needed unless you are getting totally nuts. We tow a camper with ours, and I spend more time on the dirt bike, so supreme prowess isn't necessary.

Thanks for posting, are you running wheel spacers? Eventually I want to do '35s on the stock HR wheels...

Great looking Jeeps! I'm looking at going this route and these pictures are helping reinforce that this combination will look good.

Again, why lift? You are messing around with a perfectly good suspension, injecting numerous potential issues /gremlins and expensive problems to resolve WITH STOCK TIRES? I am just curious why all you in this thread are lifting a Jeep that doesnt need a lift - it clears the factory suspension, fenders and bumpers already right off the dealer lot. Am I missing something?

I have a 2.5 lift. But my tires are 37 inches.

It's a fair question. I did it because I put at least 200+ lbs of additional SPRUNG weight on the chassis in the winch and armor. On the stock springs, I believe this would have sagged the suspension to the degree that we would have really dragged a lot on the Rubicon. I think I did the best thing.

I've checked, and my caster is still in spec, have zero drive line vibrations (so it didn't impact clocking of the axles), and toe was never impacted, so I'm good. Shoot, I'm only this weekend going to put in the adjustable track bars to re-center the axles. It didn't even move the steering wheel off center.

I also could have done this by carving out the fenders or that type of action, but I didn't feel like hacking up a new car (only denting it on boulders :) ), and the breakover angle would have been worse than stock without a mild lift.

Chill. I wanted to ask if folks had a reason. The board is full of folks who lift and spend hours and many dollars chasing down problems with aftermarket suspensions to run big tires, I could not see why someone would take that risk with stock size tires.

I suppose the breakover thing makes much more sense if you are "denting it on boulders" lol. Limos do have pretty sucky breakover. That is a good reason. Glad your install went well. As far as the unsprung 200 pounds, I had that when I was stock height too - I called it my boyfriend lol!!!!! But I dont have a winch or heavy bumpers yet in addition to said boyfriend.

Dude, get over yourself - no one said 2.5 lifts were to be avoided at all costs. There is ALWAYS a potential for issues ANY time you start tinkering with suspension - great that you were lucky but don't fool yourself or try to get others to believe "Its only 2.5 inches nothing can possibly go wrong." So long as folks understand the risks and don't fool themselves, especially when doing it just for looks, all good and my work here is done.

I am sure some of you are not aware there is an ignore option. use it you will find guys like me no longer get under your skin.

strohme2 - Since you kept the Rubi wheels and tires did you install wheel spacers? Do you have a couple pics from front and rear at angles? I'm kind of curious how it looks with the factory offset.

Thanks.

I'm also thinking of going with a 2" or 2.5" spring lift (hoping to keep my shocks) and would also like to keep my wheels & tires ( tires have 2500 mi). Are spacers needed? They do give a jeep a better stance / look!

Didn't like the look

I had planned on just doing a 2.5" lift and sticking with the stock wheels and tires but after about a week I just felt like it looked a little off. In my opinion the wheel/tire looked small sort of like a toy car! I did like the stock wheel but its pretty narrow and I would have had to buy 3 sets of spacers, one whole set for the spare, and with wheels running about 140 I thought just get wheels and spend a few hundred more. Word of caution its a little more expensive than you may think if you to move up tire size with out risking damage to your tailgate. I decided to do a new rear bumper after researching the effects of a 35 on the stock spare carrier. ended up with the warn elite with tire carrier. super happy with the results . IMHO I like the look of the stock wheel/tire combo with no lift but if your doing a lift new wheels and tires will be on the menu at some point!

Karvanet - That doesn't look bad at all and I think that seals the deal for me. I've been going back and forth about getting some clearance and then maybe needing new tires to boot. For the trails around here I'm dragging my belly a lot and couple more inches of height would help alleviate that issue. Since the stock tires work well I really don't want to get rid of them. Already got the front bumper replaced and looking at winches. I think I can do the lift and wait on the new shoes until they wear out. Thanks for the pics.
