You're going to have to buy a kit. It's somewhere between 2 and 3 bills.

All I needed to do was buy the mike for $40 and install it. Then put your Bluetooth device into "discovery" mode and it will sync up. Directions to do this should be in the owners manual. If the uconnect button is on your radio (it should be) you don't need the whole kit, just the microphone.

That only for Mygig radios I believe.

You may be right I have the mygig. It's been a while but I was looking into doing this with my Charger and the kit came with the rear view mirror mic and buttons and that made up most of the cost. I'm not sure if that's necessary for the Jeep.

ETA: I just looking into it and you do need to have the Mygig to just add the mic. For the others you need the kit.

I just had the uconnet installed in my jeep 2 weeks ago and I like it. i also got the ipod cable so it will charge my ipod while its plugged in and its in the glove box so i can control the ipod through the radio caontrols. The only thing is the uconnect is useless when the top is down. I like it though.

what radio do you have? i was under the impression that the factory radios would not control the ipod and that you still had to control it from the touch wheel.

oh yeah, can you provide the part number as well? looking at the parts list, it's all very confusing what part # works with what radio.

O.k. Here we go with that crazy dealer thing again. Last time I was in I asked about uconnect. He told me I would need wiring harness' etc. Etc. Cost about $1000 bucks. I asked him if he was smoking crack. Just a useless button on my sterio.

ok, so checking with the guy at quadratec, he said all i need is the cable, since i already have the uconnect built into my radio. this is what's driving me nuts with this. do i still need the uconnect kit? i just want to plug my ipod into the radio and have the radio control the ipod. from the looks of it, the cable will just plug into the back of the radio and everything will work.

sweet looking jeep, btw!!

I'm with you about the iPod. I'm tired of swerving all over the road all the time.

I was told by the dealer that I needed the uconnect kit in order to use the ipod cable but that was probably him trying to get my money. I didn't care since my mopar bucks covered the cost of the install. It just might work since your radio has the uconnect button.

looking at the plug on the harness, it look just like the plug on the uconnect kit, both of which plug into the radio. i cant imagine the uconnect kit having anything to do with the radio controlling the ipod functions. i'll let everyone know when the harness comes and i install it.

My dealer told me that Uconnect was $250 and... drumroll... he was correct (almost). Or at least that much MOPAR website lists it for ($257 actually). It's the p/n 82211878 that Beakaroo listed.

URL: Chrysler EASy :: Accessories - 82211878

Click around the Mopar site, they have explanations which radio is which, and compare the option codes (like "RES") to your owner's manual on the CD, it has pictures that permit you to identify your radio.

If you want the iPod thing you'll also need another part from the Beakaroo's post, and that thing is hella expensive. Good thing I swore off Apple products.

i'll see what happens when i get in there. i also read that for 2010, the required module is already there, behind/under the glove box. if it doesn't work, i'll just return it and keep using the AUX jack.

My daughters just use the axillary plug on the front of the radio to plug in and listen to their Ipods when they're riding in my Jeep.

update: i got the $40 cable today, pulled the dash apart, pulled the radio out, plugged one end of the cable into the back of the radio, the other into the ipod and..........

nothing.

the cable will plug right into the back of the radio, but nothing happens. so chrysler scams you out of another $250 to get the module, which has the SAME PLUG, but somehow tells the radio that there's an ipod connected. i don't give a damn about bluetooth connectivity with my phone, i just want my ipod to charge and be controlled by the radio.
so i'm undecided on what to do now. for the $300 i will have spent on the cable and the module, i could get a nice aftermarket head unit, but that make an easy target in a soft top jeep. ugh, way to sh!t the bed, chrylser.

But wait, there's more! You will also have to have the dealer "flash" the computer to know the module is there - another $75! Chrysler
