It kind of bugs me that when full, my gas gauge reads only 3/4. But then again, I know I have at least 50 miles left when the light comes on. And my first (1979) never had a working fuel gauge or trip odometer. I guess I'll just be quiet

Ok I'll play along

1998 2.5 Sport (must be an export thing) 74.000km, needed a cilinder head rebuild thanks to PO driving with a broken waterpump. Runs fine now. Love the little engine that could

Those are interesting aerodynamic bumper ends. Maybe they increase MPGs by .000002?

Anyone ever changed a timing chain on the 2.5? My 97 has 165,000 miles and I think it's original. Runs great but kind of "sneezes" (just once) when it starts. Something to think about. Maybe plugs and distributor parts would be an easy starting point.

Awesome. Love the snow pic. Here in North Ga, we are good for about one snow a year of about 3-6 inches and that's it. After I got my Jeep last summer, we didn't even get a single inch of snow this winter. I was really looking forward to driving in the snow, but it didn't get to happen.

I'm glad to see the responses to this thread. I was reluctant to buy a 2.5 because of the comments about being under powered. It's no rocket but it's just fine. I took a 6 hour drive today from south Jersey to North Jersey and back (Mountain areas) and held 70 mph with everyone else (little guy was screaming at 3,000 rpm). Also maintained 19.5 mpg's with the AC on about half the time.
I hope this helps others see that although 4 cylinders may not be the favored choice, there are lots of great rigs and happy owners out there.
