CB radio choice, antenna choice, mount locations

Please school me on what CB radio I need, what antenna I want, and what I should I consider before I mount these things and where. I'm on the highway, play out in the woods, and plan to be on the trail. Ready to learn from the experience of others! Pictures please!

I got my whole setup for about $50 give or take. Found the CB for $30 on sale at Radio Shack and bought an antenna/cable kit from there too. Kit came with an antenna, cable, and a useless mount. Ran it with the antenna just lying across the back in the tub behind the tailgate for a while, worked just fine. Finally bought an antenna mount that mounts behind the tail light from teraflex. Simple setup, doesn't need to be tuned, works great. I only use mine on club trail rides so we're all within a mile of each other. Figured I don't need a super fancy setup that will reach for miles and miles.

Uniden 510XL:

Similar Antenna Kit:

This is what I started with. I recommend buying a CB antenna spring because I caught that fiberglass antenna on a branch and it cracked.
Since I already have the cable I'm just gonna buy a new antenna and get a spring this time. Firestick is a great CB brand. Only downside is they need to be tuned. Not a huge deal though, you can tune them well enough for trail use without any fancy tools.

New Antenna:

All this being said, looks like you have a JK though, so the mount I linked to won't work for your jeep. Might find more information specific to your model here: JK Pics Forum - Jeep Wrangler Forum

Most simple mount... Drill a hole in your tire carrier 1/2" if I remember correctly and mount antenna. That is what I did. It isn't level so it does lean slightly towards the rear. Most important, FREE.

Just an idea.
