If you are doing a rack to save your soft top, once the rack is up, forget about easy take down and put up process for the top.

Even if all the rack can be lifted, they will have to be empty every time to do so. So only thing you will realy remove will be the windows.

Just a tought.

Thanks for the insight. I do want a rack that I can swivel back and put the soft top up and down. I realize this will not be a quick process but the Wife will want the top down here and there. Personally the windows out and doors off are plenty for me. I will be using my jeep to do alot of Hunting so the rack will be utilized primarily in the fall for hualing gear and meat/horns when we harvest an animal.

Cool, as long as you get the idea and are ready to live with it, you should like it.

I've ordered a Gobi for my LJ. Just be prepared to wait about 2 months to get it once the order is place. I ordered mine on march 3rd, still hasn't come yet. I called and talk to Gobi and little Gobi chick said it should ship out this week. If I don't see it by friday I'll probably call back a little aggravated.

Keep it mind they might have postponed shipping due to the inclement weather and flooding the Midwest had over the weekend but they might not include you depending on where you live.

Besides that you won't regret your Gobi. Absolutely fantastic product

I have no doubt, I'm just being childish and inpatient. I want my toys!!! As soon as i get the rack I'm going to order some additional offroad lights, but I want to take measurements first.

Fully-Lit.com for your offroad lights if I may suggest.

Here are a few pics..
the mounting brackets are left on the Jeep. but the arms are cut and have inserts welded in and then drilled and tapped for 9/16ths bolts and nuts.
Added some matts to the rack for better support of smaller items..
then added some Rigid cubes at each corner for better lighting at night to see the trails and for setting up camp. Plus a 20 " front and back as well. The lighting is controlled by one of those multiswitch devices at the top of the header.
What is really good is that I have a garage gator lift hooked up to it and just use it to lower and raise it off of the Jeep and keep all the stuff on the rack plus other storage.

Here are a few more pics.. hope the design makes sense.
At the front we added some limb risers so I dont get smacked in the face by limbs or brush. I can remove the 20" light bar and keep the limb risers on.

Looks great, love the blue. Painfully stock is the best way to find them. No previous owner mistakes to correct! What's your plans for her?

Thanks! I'd like to lift it up a few inches, do a tummy tuck, put 33x10.50 or 34x10.50 tires on it, bumpers, winch, and switch out those tube steps for a set of sliders. I also have a locked and geared D44 front and Ford 8.8 rear under my old XJ that I'd eventually like to swap under this.

My 04 LJ with 1.25 JKS BL and 2.5" OME Springs paired with Rancho 7000MT Shocks. Currently running spacers on the wheels until I can find some decent ones.
