Seems to be that 4" with metal cloaks would require at lest 35's because there would be such a huge gap between the tire and fender

Wouldn't require 35s just a look preference but that's what I'm trying to figure out with the pics. Want to know how it looks. Can't be a huge difference between them and flats but still want to see it if possible...

Literally no point lifting a tj or lj 4" with mc fenders on 33's. Enen with 35's its highly debateable. I run both 33's and 35's with 2" lift.

I'm already lifted 4" and will do an axle swap later for 35s but can only handle 33s right now but love the MC look....

So would you recommend the fenders after the axle swap

Friend of mine took his 4" superlift kit off and sold it. Bought metalcloak arch fenders and 1" body lift he's running 35" with no problem.

Running 2.5" SL with 1.25" BL right now, I'm definitely planning on picking up some MC flares. What do y'all think? Too much lift?

According to MetalCLoak's website.
• 2.6" ABOVE tire vs. ALL other Tube Fenders
• 5" BEHIND tire vs. Typical Flat Fenders
• 5.1" ABOVE tire vs. Stock Fenders
• 6.5" BEHIND tire vs. Stock Fenders

I understand what you all are saying. I realize now I shouldn't have lifted 4" but I don't want to take off my lift and go smaller when I will be putting on 35s in the near future...I would just like to see how it looked on 33s until I upgraded to 35s. I'm listening to every word. 35s go great with the MCs and 4" lift and that's my end goal....

You gotta start thinking in a different light. Especially on short arms. A lot of "lift kits" lift high because of the stock fenders in relation to the tire size. A lot of lift kits will lift 3-4" and come with 2-3" worth of bumpstop extensions and shocks with really long compressed lengths........due to being designed around poor clearance stock fenders.

When you go to a high quality, high clearance armor'd fender like what MC offers, you now don't need to worry about obnoxiously tall bump stopping, or using shocks with long compressed lengths etc. You are now able to keep your COG lower(more stable)with lower lifts, and having to add on excessive bump stopping is now a thing of the past. In other words you can have your cake and eat it too. High clearance fenders that fit 33's and 35's,with small or no extra bumpstops, greater up travel, better driveline and suspension geometry since your SA's don't need as high a lift any more. Its all positives with no negative downsides literally.

I gotcha. I didn't know much when I lifted 4" just wanted to run 33s but now I've gotten into building my jeep and wish I would have researched before I jumped the gun. I already had a CV shaft built for my height and installed SYE. I guess I'll just have to run bump stops for now... any suggestions besides starting all over with a new lift? I have MC duroflex arms and track bars on the way....

Hey bro, its all a learning process.

Think of it this way. You just got MC DF arms(full set?)and MC F/R track bars? Correct? If so that's a lot of the cost of a quality lift right there. Springs and shocks aren't necessarily as expensive. You could probably sell of your springs on the forums pretty quickly for half the price you paid. Springs for a full set is relatively inexpensive. You can get a full set of quality OME springs for $300. You can get a good set of monotube shocks(ones with much shorter compressed lengths for about the same cost again. No reason why you cant sell off your old 4" springs and shocks ones on CL or online for half that. Same with the shocks. 4" lifts are pretty popular, and loads of kids with TJ's looking for cheap lifts on CL too. If your going to invest another grand or so on MC fenders......I don't see why you couldn't add an extra few hundred bucks for the right springs and shocks to compliment your new fenders, control arms and TB's........

I don't mind the $ but will my new DS be too long? I'd prefer not having to get a new one of them too. I was thinking about Rancho 9000xl shocks. And yes I bought a cheap lift for looks and now addicted and want to build it right

Just curious are you running a 4" lift with 35s and the MC fenders and flares?
