The ones I've made so far I'm using for test purposes, like developing related accessories like snorkels, side-port scoops, etc. If I decide to offer any cowls for sale I'll just mold up some new ones, although at the moment I'm pretty busy with the other new fiberglass project I've just started; since a company is interested in bringing the new project to market that has to take priority over the cowl project.
Im not afraid to put my money where my mouth is. but I understand that you gotta do the real job first and us jeeper's second. keep us posted on how the progress.
Oh it's not a "real job", I do all of these projects as a hobby. It just so happens that a company wants to bring another of my designs to market, so that design and project has my full attention right now (and it's also a Jeep-related product ). If a company wanted to bring the cowl design to market I'd be focused on that too, but for now it's a back burner thing until I get the other project done.
No updates on the cowl panel. I haven't had time to work on them, a company is still very interested in licensing my new fiberglass project to bring it to market, I've had to concentrate on getting that done, so I haven't had time to mold any cowl panels for sale, my current project is bigger and more complex than a simple cowl panel so it's taken me a while to finish it.
I just finished my other big fiberglass project and crated up the mold masters to ship to the company that's going to produce and market that project (just finalized an agreement with them to market it), so I was thinking about what I'm going to work on next.
The other day a friend did an unsolicited favor for me and in return I told him he would be #1 on the list to get a Cool Cowl if I ever make any more, so yesterday I got out the Cool Cowl molds and parts and was thinking about a few minor improvements I want to make to the molds.
I've got three projects I'm thinking about next:
1. Painting and installing my CJ Grille Kit fiberglass parts on my LJ. I finished most of the work on this project last November, did a test install and then swapped the factory parts back on, and then I had a bicycle accident that broke my shoulder so I wasn't able to do the paint and final installation work during my recovery. I'm fully recovered now so I'd really like to get this done.
2. There is one optional component of the project I just finished, and that company wants that part too, so I might work on the mold parts for that next so they can get the main product and the option into production at the same time.
3. Or I'll maybe make a few Cool Cowls.
Probably I ought to do #2 first, but I haven't decided yet. At the moment I'm just catching up on lots I deferred while I was finishing up the mold parts for the project I just finished.
Any update on this? I'm looking for something like this for my new intake setup. The new fenders I just fitted mean that there is no longer any room for my stock intake.
Since I did the Cool Cowl, I've been too busy with other fiberglass projects to think about what to do with it. I designed and built a set of bolt-on fiberglass flat fenders for the TJ, which a company has signed up to bring to market:
And I designed and built a modular set of camper comonents for building toppers for Jeep-tub trailers, like this teardrop:
So I really haven't spend any time thinking about the Cool Cowl. I've still got the molds, just haven't focused on that one in a while, sorry.
