Sidesteps = Snow Catchers!

Just a little rant here. This is my first winter with my 97 Sahara and I know the first thing I'm doing on the next nice day is taking the factory sidesteps off. I can't believe how much snow piles up on those things while driving around. I'm constantly clearing off snow, slush, piles of sand etc from those things.

I don't use them but my kids do when they're climbing out. I'll just give them a hand getting out, it's easier than constantly clearing off the steps. Plus I don't like the fact that all of that snow/slush/salt combo is just sitting there on the steps and up against the body.

After looking around at pics, I like the way the Jeep looks without them anyway.

Edit - Sorry, I just realized I posted this in the pics thread. Meant to put it in the General discussion but had the wrong tab open in my browser.

You can make some removable steps, so they are there when you want and not when you don't want, that's what I did and I love them.

I know what you mean, they are just to collect things like mud snow, ice, sand and so on. and i am leaving mine on till i find something to replace them with. rock sliders etc. Been through a couple of winters and has bothered me yet. I like to use them to work on my light bar, and if i ever get a roof rack. which is the goal someday. so
