I was actually thinking I prefer for most of the shift "rod" to stick out, but I want to ditch the accordion boot. Has anyone installed one of your boots and pushed it down more so that it's baggier towards the bottom of the shifter like most cars are?

thats kind of how i did mine. i pulled the boot way down on the plastic bottom piece, and also tocked the top in on itself a lot more than i should have... i like the way it looks. there are a few pics of mine earlier in this thread.

Yes, you can adjust the length of the boot pretty easily...I've also had several people ask about that, so I'm thinking of making a shorter version...

Great stuff, Bardo. Looking to order one within the next week or two...

Have you considered stiching a lining to the inside of the boot with a heat shield type of material, or can that be requested? Ive found that, during summer, i can feel a fairly good amount of heat emitting from beneath the boot and shifter and am wondering if that material would prevent some of that. Let me know your thoughts, if possible.

Thanks!

I'm debating on what kind of pattern or color I'd really like to get, but I absolutely want to get rid of the accordion boot, and I want to scoop one up from you ASAP. If you experiment with the shorter boots, please let me know. I'd like my shift boot to be significantly shorter than the ones I've seen in this thread. They look too tall in my opinion, but do look really good. Let me be your guinnea pig :-P

I guess I can't edit my post? I'm considering red with black stitches, black with red stitches, or maybe even the camo...

I got the camo one headed my way. I will update as soon as I get it and get it installed (which will be minutes after I receive it)! I'm impatient, LOL. Should look awesome with my camo pool ball shifter on top of it. Bardo is a great guy to work with!!!

Thanks for all the kind words, guys...Really appreciate it! Currently, I'm experimenting with different fabrics...Doing one for a guy made out of Cordura...kind of a thick canvas material. We'll see how that turns out. That might open the door to doing more cool, printed stuff that I can find w/ just the marine vinyl.

Ha!! Be glad to sell you one! That's my favorite, so far. I had a black w/ blue on first, then I made the Lone Star just as an experiment...but it worked out pretty freekin' cool...so I switched out.

As soon as I get time, I'm gonna do a mustache one...hilarious!

I can definitely do a shorty, if you like...I actually did one already as a test, and it came out really nice. Red w/ black would be awesome! But, so would hawaiian print, if I can find the fabric...c'mon Google!!

I can get started right now on a shorty red w/ black stitching for $25...Or a shorty camo for $30 (camo fabric is more expensive)...But, I'll have to wait to find Hawaiian print material...Just lemme know!

Thanks for the kind words! Looking forward to your order. I have not thought about any kind of heat shielding...but I know what you're talking about. My 97 gets hot, as well...not a whole lot of insulation between tranny and feet...

I might be able to incorporate some kind of metallic under-fabric, that could radiate the heat back down under the vehicle...It would definitely be more expensive, but a "cool" idea! (hahahaha) I'll look into it!

One thing you want to consider if you're getting a lot of heat coming from the shifter is that your interior shift boot might be cracked or broken. That's where a lot of my heat was initially coming from. There's a little rubber boot that goes around the shifter on the inside of the console. Granted, if you've removed carpet and insulation, it's going to be hotter regardless--but that would make it significantly warmer inside IMO.

As for the shorty, I run a non-profit org called "Island Attitude" ...The theme of my Jeep is red and black. The Hawaiian style print would go great with the island mindset... the camo would appeal to the hee-haw side of me... Tough call! I guess I could always do more than one!

Its funny you mention that, cause after my suggestion, i went to inspect a little further and....sure enough. The interior boot is cracked...like, major cracked, I can see to the ground. ha ha. I may not need the heat shield liner after all, just going to order a replacement interior boot.

Great suggestion, vanillathrilla.

Bardo, ill get back to you on my design. How backed up are ya?

Not too bad...Got about 4-5 in the cue, right now. I'll get those knocked out this weekend and ship on Saturday or Monday.

Lemme know what I can do for ya!
