I'm happy to announce that the popular Column Cover is once again available under the new name, Column Cover CS. CS stands for Clock Spring. The clockspring, for those who don't know, from Wikipedia:
in vehicle steering systems a clockspring is a special rotary electrical connector which allows a vehicle's steering wheel to turn while still making an electrical connection between the steering wheel airbag and/or the vehicle's horn and other devices and the vehicle's electrical systems. The clockspring is located between the steering wheel and the steering column. Clocksprings generally consist of a flat multicore cable wound in a spiral shape similar to a clock spring, hence the name, but the name is also given to devices fulfilling the same purpose but which use spring-loaded brushes contacting concentric slip rings.
When the clockspring is exposed to water it can malfunction, causing stalk controls and/or airbag to quit working, and possibly requiring a costly replacement. A few years ago I developed the Column Cover, a vinyl covered waterproof bonnet that goes over the steering wheel and steering column effectively protecting the clockspring from water. The cover will fit all Wranglers with a standard size steering wheel. Want to go topless on a day when it just might rain? Not worried because maybe you've bedlined your tub, pulled your plugs, and have waterproof seatcovers? Better protect that clockspring too! And now you can.
Production of the Column Cover CS will hopefully begin within the week, and will be available shortly. The price should be around $28 (give or take a dollar or two) plus shipping ($5.80 within the continental US), but exact pricing will be determined once material costs are finalized, which will be shortly, and announced in a supplemental post in this thread.
To order your Column Cover CS, simply send me a PM with your mailing address and mention you want to order one. Payment will be by Pay Pal only, and that info will be relayed via PM once ordered.
Please post any questions here in this thread rather than in a PM because it may answer another person's question also.
A current picture of the new improved Column Cover will be posted once the first ones are made, but here is a pic of the first CC made a few years ago.
Thank you for your interest...and stay dry!
