The New and Improved Column Cover CS

I'm happy to announce that the popular Column Cover is once again available under the new name, Column Cover CS. CS stands for Clock Spring. The clockspring, for those who don't know, from Wikipedia:
Quote:
in vehicle steering systems a clockspring is a special rotary electrical connector which allows a vehicle's steering wheel to turn while still making an electrical connection between the steering wheel airbag and/or the vehicle's horn and other devices and the vehicle's electrical systems. The clockspring is located between the steering wheel and the steering column. Clocksprings generally consist of a flat multicore cable wound in a spiral shape similar to a clock spring, hence the name,[1] but the name is also given to devices fulfilling the same purpose but which use spring-loaded brushes contacting concentric slip rings.
When the clockspring is exposed to water it can malfunction, causing stalk controls and/or airbag to quit working, and possibly requiring a costly replacement. A few years ago I developed the Column Cover, a vinyl covered waterproof bonnet that goes over the steering wheel and steering column effectively protecting the clockspring from water. The cover will fit all Wranglers with a standard size steering wheel. Want to go topless on a day when it just might rain? Not worried because maybe you've bedlined your tub, pulled your plugs, and have waterproof seatcovers? Better protect that clockspring too! And now you can.

Production of the Column Cover CS will hopefully begin within the week, and will be available shortly. The price should be around $28 (give or take a dollar or two) plus shipping ($5.80 within the continental US), but exact pricing will be determined once material costs are finalized, which will be shortly, and announced in a supplemental post in this thread.

To order your Column Cover CS, simply send me a PM with your mailing address and mention you want to order one. Payment will be by Pay Pal only, and that info will be relayed via PM once ordered.

Please post any questions here in this thread rather than in a PM because it may answer another person's question also.

A current picture of the new improved Column Cover will be posted once the first ones are made, but here is a pic of the first CC made a few years ago.

Thank you for your interest...and stay dry!

Disclaimer: While the intention of the Column Cover CS is to keep the moisture sensitive clock spring and column stalks as dry as possible to prevent electrical problems due to water, and although it has been tested to stand up to ordinary downpours, we will not be held liable for any damage that may occur due to misuse, or other variables beyond our control. Furthermore the Column Cover CS is intended for use ONLY on parked vehicles. Never attempt to use the product while driving or serious injury or death may occur.

Ok material has been purchased and just to confirm, the price is $28 plus shipping of $5.80 to anywhere in the USA for a total of $33.80. Also comes with a made in the USA label so you can proudly show your support for small business and products that are made right here in the USA, not in China

Installation is easy, just slip the cover over the steering wheel and wrap the 3/4" elastic band around the column clockwise once and fasten the velcro.

New Lower Price!!

Free shipping is now permanent! So, forget the $5.80 shipping fee, I'll get it out to you anywhere in the continental US for the new price of $28.

I checked the usps on line pricing for international shipping. Looks like a small flat rate box like I use would be about $22 to Canada. I'll take off $5.80 since Im offering the free shipping in the US. I will verify the shipping cost tomorrow at the post office since I dont trust their on line price calculator and pm you the exact amount.

Okay so if any of our northern neighbors want a Cover, shipping to Canada with my discount is $15. Shipping anywhere in the US is still free.

Im reading more and more threads about people having electronic issues after getting caught in the rain with their top down, especially with JKs. Some of these people are going to end up with a costly repair, like around $300 plus labor, and all of them were easily preventable. Dont be that guy that didnt want to spend $28 for some protection and piece of mind and end up spending many times that.

Heres the truth, now that I'm offering free shipping I'm making nothing when I sell one of these Column Covers. Zero. And I dont care either. I wish I could sell them cheaper, but material and the cost of making them isnt cheap.

Why take the chance on wrecking your clockspring when its easily preventable? PM me and let me help you out.

Regrettably I am announcing that the Column Cover CS will no longer be manufactured and I am going out of business. I have one left so if you're interested in buying the last CCCS to be produced shoot me a PM.
