It was to easy all you needed was patience. I did 4 coats and I would wait 10 minutes between each coat.
So over all each tire was almost about 1 hour Long so it took me 4 hours to do every rim but that's because I did one rim at a time

I dipped the wheels on mine about a year ago and am very pleased to what it has withstood. No scratches or pin holes after stuff like this...

I did not use tape or paper on the tires. The dip peeled right off the tire for me and stayed on the wheel.

I did tape up all the lugnuts and covered the holes when I sprayed at first. It wasn't necessary. Just use some mineral spirits and a q-tip to keep that area clean. Then you won't spin the dip loose installing the wheels.

When I finally get some decent tires for my offload adventures, I will probably peel the dip and reapply after. This way the wheel weights won't mess it up.

It took about 5 or 6 light coats. Follow the instructions on the can and trust them. The first few coats will look like it's not covering, but it does.

I did put a 383 stroker in my vette a few years ago and still have the stock 350. My son has a few ideas for that though. I have the 4.0 in my jeep and I love that workhorse motor.

They are actually large index cards. I can't take credit for this idea though, I read about it somewhere else. Great idea though.

I guess Im ghetto lol. I sprayed mine without taping anything off including the tires. It does not stick well to rubber so after a day or so of driving there was Plasti dip starting to peel off and flap in the wind. Just started pulling the peeled parts and it came right off the tires leaving the rim fully covered.

How does it affect the balance of the tire and rim?

Does it take more weights to balance?

Please take your wheels off the jeep to do this. Clean them properly and there's no need to tape off. Once it's dry just rub your finger along the tire and it will peel off but stay on the wheel.

What is the advantage of doing this to your wheels? I can understand more of coating steel whells that are rusting.

Yeah, cleaning up old wheels or simply changing the look of any wheel for very little $$$.

If you have a Lowe's nearby, they carry it in the spray paint section. It's about $6 a can. I did all 5 wheels and my grille with 5 cans.
