LOL, I found the thread I created on the dash years ago on JF. I was pretty close in my guesses. The aluminum was .063" and I did use 220 grit sandpaper.

I changed out the commonly faulty center gauges (something EVERY YJ owner should do lol) in favor of the AutoMeter Z-series electric gauges with red LEDs. Also in the pic, you can see my winch controller I made out of an old aftermarket power window kit that was never used.. It lights up when I flip the switch to power the winch and I don't need to stretch my winch controller over the front of the jeep and through the window/door

Still working on the rest of my dash. I plan on moving the ECM to the space where the glove box used to be so it's not exposed to the elements and then building a steel panel to cover it with an Oh Sh*t handle on it. Also going to put a CB where the radio was and just run my ipod to an amp eventually. May also put the amp behind the glove box if the ECM doesn't interfere and cause engine noise through it..

Here is a bow for my bikini top made from PVC pipe and some pipe insulation. It holds the top tight and stops all the flapping noise.

Thanks, I bought them from Morris 4x4. Smittybilt Standard Buckets in Black Denim. Better quality than I expected and I am very happy with them. Free shipping and they showed up within a week.

Got the LEDs from amazon. I think it took me about 30 minutes to do it. There's a step by step on the forum somewhere.

They're just stock gauges but the LED back lights make a huge difference.

I did the same thing and I'm very happy with mine. I bought at superbrightleds.com. Be sure to get the 360 degree lights. They help light up the entire gauge. My jeep is blue so I bought blue LEDs. They look great with the white gauge faces that I bought from whitegauges.net

Thanks. The only thing missing was a diesel engine. It was a pretty cool jeep. Wish I still had it.
