That's a fuel injected 5.9 and it bolts up to an ax15 without special adapters not saying it will hold up to the extra hp and torque but its almost a strait swap asides from the motor mounts.
Well now I am interested in how it holds up. When you start testing it out, please keep me updated. I am curious if that might be a better route. What did you pull the engine from?
Engine is from a 95 dodge ram 2500 automatic I bought the computer wiring harness and all bolt on accessories for $350 engine had 102k miles on it. You will need a dodge Dakota v6 bell housing, 5.9 flywheel manual transmission crankshaft position sensor, 91-92 dodge dakota fuel rail they can be found in some v8 grand Cherokees. Center dump headers, advanced adapters motor mounts or Novak, some wiring skills and a wiring diagram but all in all I think I'm about $1000 into the hole swap. I dove it down the road the other day and it runs so smooth lots of power and all my gauges work its like it was made to fit.
Yea its working out greats so far well see how it goes once I get the exhaust finished up. That's really the last thing that needs to be done before i can daily drive it again.
My project 93 5.0 from mustang with ford c6 tranny and np205 tcase and fullsize ford axles 44 hp and nine inch I used the weld on motor mounts from advanced adapters
I have the stock GC manifolds and Y pipe. Still need to figure out the rest. Having issues getting over the tranny cross member and I need to figure out how to get around the 4link in the rear.
I would like to see how you cleared the starter it seams like the gc exhaust manifold dumps right above the starter. This i why i went with center dump headers.
This is without the Y pipe, but it's the best shot I have of that area. Again, everything is stock GC exactly how it came from the factory. The starter isn't installed in this pic but it goes under the filter.
Oh I see your running a 42 or 46rh or automatic transmission so your starter is on the passenger side which lets you run stock manifolds. I'm running an ax15 manual so my starter is on the drivers side. Where the manifold would dump right into it. What are you doing for running gear?
I just read your whole build thread. Thats one kick ass rig. Is it driving yet? Got anymore videos of after the exhaust is done? And how much wider is the bronco 9" then the 35? My uncle is the president of b&g performance and they can tune your pcm to remove torque management. It cuts ignition timing when you step on the gas to remove power so you get a smoot acceleration.without it you can roast the tires easily.
I haven't been spending much time in the shop, summer is always tough. Still no exhaust. My build thread is current, no behind the scenes work going on. I was under the Jeep the other day and realize that I need to build a new Y pipe too. It sits too low and is causing issues clearing the tranny cross member.
Does your uncle have a PCM he would sell me? You can get me the family discount right?
Lol yea probably not he actually said i should go obd2 since the tuning capabilities are much better. I tried looking for a cheap 5.9 manual transmission computer and couldn't come up with anything so im using an automatic transmission computer at the moment. After doing the swap i think early obd2 would have been just as easy to do if not easier. But maybe down the road when i get aroumd to building a new harness ill go obd2. I wonder what stand alone ignition systems would work with this swap?
