If you look REALLLLLLY close at the 2 pictures, you'll see that the whole rear half is different, because it isn't a Scrambler, it's a CJ-10, a different vehicle...
originally came with an np198 xfer case but has since been swapped out for a 208. original case had no high range only low. did not even come with a stick to try to shift out of low gear.
The front tracks have a hydraulice ram inside that is conected to the steering, when I turn the wheel it extends down against one of the sets of boggies, this minimized the surface area of the tracks to a couple inches long x the width of the track.
Turns real easy...I can switch the hydraulics off when I'm on a long run.
I built these two sleds to pull behind and to the top of some virgin snow hills...the problem was the engine was to small for the extra weight of 1500lb of tracks...I have since replaced the engine with a fuel injected V8 so hope to do some sleding this winter.
The jeep is in Lebanon...we should be there for Christmas.
