Yeah, I know this is from 09, but the answer bears repeating. There was no question that the Gladiator would sell. When I chatted with the designer of it and the head engineer for Jeep at the time, they both were ecstatic over the response to it.

There was and is only one reason it was never put into production and it's so silly as to be mind boggling.

The wheelbase and overall length of the truck is too long to fit on any of the Jeep assembly lines. Or as they put it, it won't work on any of the trays and they can't make them longer without building a new plant.

If it weren't for that simple little thing, the demand and buyer response were all high enough for it to go into production. Most of the front already exists between the J-8 and the JK so the rest is just building the bed.

Makes you wonder how they built that one, and how they're building the J8...

My bet would be that they don't want competition for the Dodge Ram and the Dodge Dakota.

I am very curious what company made this green canvas soft top. Does anyone know where it was made? I am looking to get one made for my 79 CJ7 but none of the usual suspects (beachwood, newlife, etc.) have a CJ7 pattern. Even though the pictured top isnt a CJ, perhaps the company that made it is willing to take on the project. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Good luck, you and lots of other folks would like a set as well. They are OEM, only in that trim package and the ones I've seen hit the for sale section go for twice what regular good used go for.

Davey had the three pieces for 800 IIRC awhile back and they sold immediately.

hes right, only the willy's edition comes with those seats. they are not covers. its the actual stock camo seats. however the molle gear pouches are covers. you can get them from smittybilt.

Not quite there yet in the military look, but I think the MB72/Duratracs (235/85/16) definitely look more tactical than the OEM rims/tires.

Not yet. The company I ordered my hat brackets from, sent the wrong ones and I am waiting on the replacements. I figure that between that and other misc. things it will be another month.
