Love the look of your Jeep. What diameter is the Oscar Mike Hood Decal? Does anyone have any best practices for getting the decal on straight and without any bubbling/crinkling?

Not sure which one of us you are talking to but mine are 20"

As far as applying the decals, there are basically 2 methods; wet and dry. Lots of people swear by the wet method but I put all mine on dry and they came out well.

Here are a couple of tutorials:

Thanks Beastmaster, that's very helpful. I think I'm going to buy the same size as my graduation present to myself!

Is it expensive to paint the jeeps in olive drab and to spray those stencils on? Love the theme in this thread.

You can do it for ~$200. I bought a case of 24 rattle cans of Gillespie Coatings paint from Rapco Parts company for $83. They have all shades and sell in gallons also.
I picked up my stencil set from a place called Military Stencils for $120. Just as a note on the stencils; it was an entire set for my Willys and are the vinyl type (stick on, paint and peel off)

J8 hood scoop feeler for a group buy

I have been in contact with Doc at Springtail Solutions. They have been busy building a new line of storage products for the JKs. He is in the process of making a J8 tribute and has fabricated a J8 hood scoop that is very close to how the real thing appears. I have been talking to him about whether they have plans to manufacture these or not. He tells me that if there is enough interest, he would consider making a batch for us. He would need at least 10 interested parties to commit to prepaying. Here are the details....
Group buy details
Price $90.00 plus shipping
Product would ship about 3-4 weeks after payment is accepted.
Once we get 10+ parties interested, he will post a link on the website for us to pay. Once enough have paid, he will start manufacturing the J8 hood scoops.
Product details
Hood scoop will be finished in powder coat primer.
As you can see in pictures, welds will need to be finished for a smooth look. He liked the appearance of the welds and most painted unfinished.
The fit is close but not perfect, sticky back rubber foam will be provided with the scoop. As you can see in the pictures, the foam provides better fit and aesthetics. Mounting holes will be placed approximately the way they are on his prototype. No hardware is provided
This GB is only for the hood scoop, there are no internals yet to hook it up to the air intake. That would be up to us to figure out....as you can see in the pictures, it is pretty close. Obviously, not a project for the faint of heart since you would be cutting a hole in your hood According to Doc, these are very hard to fabricate and to manufacture which is why no one offers them. Since Doc is not a vendor on this forum, he will not be participating in this thread other than to answer any questions through me.

My 1993 YJ, it has only ever been owned or driven by a member of my family in the military.

Then I got it and did a small facelift....

It's an anti tailgating device....

Actually I thought it'd be good for trail running here in hog country. Plus it matches the military theme.

Here's mine...

Over the last 3 days I installed MCE front and rear flat fenders, used 11 cans of spray paint to paint it and I cut some decals for it today. Here is what it looked like 3 days ago...

Thanks

I read about the hood numbers, 20 plus the last 5 numbers of my VIN followed by -S. The front bumper letters and numbers were on a plastic model I had. LOL

WOW! I have heard of people finding a 57 vette in a barn but that is awesome. I cannot wait to see the pics as you progress.

Love all the military inspired Jeeps from all generations. Awesome.

I am actually looking to mount a few M4's in my jeep, this thread is giving me ideas. My state (Kansas) just passed legislation that now makes it legal to drive with a gun rack in your vehicle, the possibilities are endless!

I like it, but not 40k like. Not sure if I would have put the stars on the wheels but other than that, it's very well done.

I have a 2014 Willys Wheeler, Copperhead color, and would like to put some military decals on it. My question is about using color or subdued decals. Two of the decals I want to add (USAF Symbol and Cold War Veteran) are in color. Since these are colored and the color of my Jeep, I feel a colored flag would be better than a subdued one. What do you guys think - USAF Retired;

I would go colored flags if your other two decals are already colored. On my WW I am going to try to keep all the exterior decals flat black. But put colored ones in discrete places like inside the tailgate or under the hood. Inside the tailgate I have two pin-up girls!
